I'm surprised he was only 82.

Are they even certain it's him that's died?

RIP sir, the first impersonator I can recall seeing. A master of his craft.

Reading lots of heartfelt tributes on Twitter from his peers, especially those for whom he was a bit of a trailblazer with stand up and impressions like Rory Bremner and Jon Culshaw.

I've attached a link to the BBC production from 2016 of Bob Monkhouse - The Last Stand. About 35 mins in, Mike Yarwood joins Bob on stage and they wind the clock back. If you've never seen the whole show, take an hour an watch it, there's a poignancy about it as Yarwood had long since retired and Monkhouse knew he had only a short time left to live, it was his last gig.

I was only thinking of Mike Yarwood recently, as I was trying to think of which of the big 70s Saturday night TV entertainers were still with us. Syd Little, Tommy Cannon, Jimmy Tarbuck, Roy Walker, Jim Davidson (if you find him entertaining!)…not many more.
