I’m east of York and it arrived here about 7.30. Just some rumbling for five minutes and some spectacular black clouds started building so it was obvious it was coming. Monsoon rain for a while but no lightning. So what did the BBC Weather site say for this area? 0% chance of precipitation of course. Waste of time!
Go straight to the Met Office then... Weather forecasting is an inexact science anyway, chaos theory (you know; a butterfly flaps it's wings and leads to a hurricane a thousand miles away) means that any chaotic system like the Earth's atmosphere is going to be very difficult to predict.
I know it’s always hit and miss looking at weather forecasts but it was spectacularly wrong last night. Another storm coming here today at midday. Let’s see….
