Hard to argue with that. Led the line better than at any other point in his career, scored goals, worked hard and looked really fit.

Well deserved, although Liam Roberts would also have been a good choice

That's a good point actually. I don't think we'd have beaten Cheltenham or got the point in Bristol without his saves. He's made all the worry over Isted and Collins in the summer a non-issue.

Couldn't be anyone else. He's earning himself the right to treble his wages and get a big fat signing on fee next summer when he's out of contract.

Both Mick Butler (1973/74 and 1974/75) & Brian Joicey (1976/77) were slow starters in their best seasons. When Joicey scored a hat trick against Halifax on the opening day of the 1978/79 season (the lasttime it happened before Devante a few weeks ago), they were his last goals for Barnsley.

In the best form of his career. Actually, form doesn't do it justice, looks like a completely different player to 18 months ago, to the point where I'm suspecting some kind of invasion of the body snatchers type of scenario.

Sad circumstances behind that though. Hope Devante can really kick on this season. He did great last season, but this may be his year. Needs to bag 20+
