Not good enough BFC. Should be a match report and match preview for every womens game on the club website adverts spread all over the clubs main twitter with info on how to watch the next match marketing emails sent with info and updates on womens team all fixtures and location of games easily available to view little incentives like a free drink for those who attend the games oh and also- the other Barnsley women fc offer spots on the club coach to a small number of fans who want to attend away games
Omission of any coverage made even less excusable by the fact there was no men's first team game to detract from it.
I'm fairness, on the women's teams Instagram account, there was a post with the team news, and the post before that was full time from the Alnwick game. I couldn't even work out who they were playing from the Instagram account.
I was sure I'd seen a line up while randomly scrolling through twitter during the day, but when I went back later to find out the score I couldn't find anything so I assumed it was from last week or something.
What's the website ? There are no fixtures or results on the main site even though there are photos of the squad. Would like to know when and where they're playing.
For me, if they're part and parcel of Barnsley Football Club, then they should have all information on the official site. If we're wanting them to feel part of the club's setup, to attract potential supporters, then do it properly.
Line ups were announced on their own Twitter account, match got abandoned 5 minutes into 2nd half due to lightning.
I went to see 'the other' Barnsley women away at Stockport County last Tuesday night in a 1-0 win. Pretty entertaining and they look a good bet for promotion (at a higher level than 'our' Barnsley team...)
AFC Wimbledon aren't the original team. Mk Dons are the original team stolen from the town and moved to a different city. Barnsley womens FC used to be barnsley ladies and used to be linked to barnsley FC. They were bought by new owners a few years ago and split from the club and moved to Sheffield.
The complete lack of coverage from yesterday on the official site (we are supposed to be one club) is disgraceful in itself - but I was actually referring to NEXT Sunday, when the ladies are at home to Bradford City and not a word has been said about it. So is that it now for the women's team? They've had their day in the sun and now they can bugger off back to the plastic pitch, a hundred fans and obscurity?
I don't - and won't - use Twitter. Looked at their facebook page late yesterday and it hadn't been updated since match 1. Their website, unless they have a new one which hasn't been publicised, is hastily and badly updated from last season and contains nothing of interest or use. The official club website has said precisely nothing about the Ladies since the opening game. Shame on you BFC - after all the hype and the resounding success of the first game (all bar the result which was not unexpected). Where are you JAQ? Some ass needs kicking here.
I should add that none of the above remarks are intended as criticism of the people directly involved in running the Ladies' section. But rather at the professional club that made a huge thing of incorporating a womens' section, put on a full and very successful presentation of the opening game, bringing in a very impressive crowd - and then appears to have utterly and completely failed to follow it through.
