Some of those teachers sound like absolute morons. Teaching is about support and encouragement, not belittling and shaming. There'll be pressure on the academies and therefore staff to produce talent but that's no excuse. The terms of entry, body weight, height etc should be made clear at the time of signing up. After that its everyone's choice to do what they want. If someone wants a tub of lard that's up to them, their choice and their body. If they meet the terms of their contract and are performing well who gives a to.ss? Let them eat cake!
If a footballer wants to go out for 8 pints after training and have a kebab for supper. It's up to them as long as they turn up for training and are fit on a Saturday.
Interesting take. Im not sure if this is bullying or not. In the recent Burnley FC documentary Kompany took the birthday donuts from the players and told them they shouldn't be eating them. The BBC obviously didn't see this issue.
I think that's a bit different to telling teenage girls you would cut bits of fat off their body with a knife if you could.
My ballet teacher told me I was a big fat bald ugly old slob. Once I'd got over the shock I couldn't really fault her honesty.
One of the girls in it is our neighbours' daughter. We've known the family twenty-odd years. Remember her heading off to the Royal Ballet school. Didn't know any of this had been going on. Nasty stuff....
As someone with a daughter currently at Performing Arts Uni, it’s good that this getting aired. No, it’s not new, but very much like the goings on with the Spanish Football Director - it needs to stop. One of the top colleges has just last year been exposed for historical bullying/ sexual misconduct, making students wear next to no clothing or even attend photo shoots naked. The industry is so competitive that these young aspiring performers daren’t blow the whistle. Sound familiar? Think Barry Bennell. So whilst some might think it’s a slow news day, the more things like this get exposed, hopefully the better and safer it will be for young performers.
Once again, everything down to the most basic level. Can you just give it a rest? You don’t have to refer everything back to sex, shagging, shitting, cracking one off or whatever juvenile thoughts are going through your head. It’s not funny. It’s unbelievably tiresome.
Bit harsh Fired, Stephen has written quite openly and bravely about his own personal issues recently and maybe his reputation as the nudge nudge, wink wink man on here is something people expect from him. I for one ( there are others) have played up to this image. maybe a polite request to tone it down would have guided us all...
My daughter made the Natural step from Ballet class , to stage coach singing and dancing to Rugby League player still probably a size 8
My sister went to Brendron school of dancing in Pontefract. It was odd because they did ballet and tap there. Also she started doing ballet and went into ballroom dancing. Weird place because they didn't have partners at that age. Not even female ones.
