you cant share an experience without providing enough context and try to clear up what you meant afterward these days
He's explained it clearly enough. Maybe shouldn't have lumped them together initially but "previous regimes" refers to why they left and "Khaled" refers to why they didn't come back. Whatever happened it seems sad that they couldn't reach agreement. The out of town set up seems far better organised so would have been good to use all that experience at Oakwell.
People hear little snippets from both sides Liam then think they're in the know. Where was the £6 million coming from to build a stadium on Broadway ? Was always a fantasy island moment from them.
Just offering a different insight and pushing back against unfair notions They were homeless this summer and tried to find a stadium in Barnsley They were in discussions with the club for years about staying or re-joining Theres no reason you shouldn't support them and the newly formed Barnsley FC ladies
What confuses me the most is, as usual, the clubs communication. I think it's harming the women's team quite significantly actually because nobody has got a clue what's what. There is a team who play in Sheffield called Barnsley womens fc, it's nothing to do with bfc The women who play at Oakwell ad are affiliated with bfc have a website called barnsley FC LADIES. A few weeks ago they had an article on their website saying "Do you want to help Barnsley FC LADIES raise money to support their junior teams while shopping online?" They have a Facebook page called barnsley FC LADIES where this month they have a post talking about barnsley FC LADIES playing at Oakwell. They constantly call themselves barnsley FC LADIES. Bfc launched the new affiliation with a fanfare calling them barnsley FC women's, they have since posted repeated articles calling them barnsley FC women's and posted about barnsley FC women's playing on Oakwell. If the team itself keeps calling itself barnsley FC LADIES and their website and Facebook are called barnsley FC LADIES then why does bfc keep calling them barnsley FC women's which makes people think it's the same club as barnsley womens FC? It just causes confusion and has to actually harm the weaker of the two sides Edit: actually just to confuse matters further their website and Facebook etc say that they play in the Sheffield and hallamshire league as barnsley FC Ladies. That team does indeed exist and are playing this season. Yet there is no Alnwick in it so how did they play them the other week? Answer: they didn't. A further check of Alnwick shows they play in the North East Regional Womens Football League and in that league is a team simply called Barnsley FC. So it would appear that there is barnsley womens FC who play in Sheffield, barnsley FC women who play ON Oakwell and barnsley FC Ladies who play AT Oakwell I'm glad that's that cleared up. Three female teams, two women, one ladies, one on Oakwell, one at Oakwell and one in Sheffield
Barnsley FC's female team was called Barnsley Ladies last season The other club has always been Barnsley Women Barnsley FC changed the name to one that clashes with the other club Make of that what you will
Well here is one version of the history from Barnsley Women's website (not Barnsley FC Ladies which is the team currently playing at Oakwell) Club Overview Barnsley Women’s Football Club is very proud of our town of Barnsley, and we promote and encourage Women & Girls football in Barnsley and the surrounding area. Our First Team currently plays in the FA Women’s National League Division 1 North. Our Junior Teams play in the Sheffield & Hallamshire Women & Girls League. Barnsley Women’s Football Club was formed in 1982, under the name “Barnsley Ladies FC”. Our Club used the name “Barnsley Ladies FC” for 34 years until the end of the 2016/17 Season when it changed its name to “Barnsley FC Ladies” for the following two Seasons until the end of 2018/19. On 16 March 2018, Barnsley Women’s Football Club Limited took over the Club and we changed our name to "Barnsley Women’s Football Club” for the 2019/20 Season. Home Matches are played at the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park. Might help clear up some of the misunderstandings and consequential innuendo on here. Sorry if posted before
Has anyone actually said they wouldn't support both. As I have very little interest in the ladies/womens game, I favour no one. But wish em all well. Including wombwell ladies/women/juniors. The fall out within the clubs is for them to resolve.
And by way of comparison here is the Barnsley FC Ladies history from their website. Barnsley FC Ladies is a grassroots Women’s Football club based in Barnsley working in partnership with EFL Championship club Barnsley FC via Reds in the Community since 2015. The club comprises 12 junior teams competing in the Sheffield & Hallamshire Women and Girls League since 2004. In 2020 the club formed an Open Age team and entered the Sheffield & Hallamshire Women and Girls League Division 1, winning the league cup and successfully gaining promotion to the North East Regional Women’s Football League Southern Division for the 2021-22 season. In July 2021, Barnsley FC announced that Barnsley FC Ladies had signed a new contract, extending the partnership until 2023, providing access to the facilities at Oakwell to both the senior and junior teams. Sorry if posted earlier
hooky fellar- it was stated 'its hard to support MK Barnsley' earlier in the thread which prompted me to defend the club
Probably hidden in an archive with the doc that told Penired that Barnsley Women had always been called that when their own site clearly states the they haven't. I am not sure that the Barnsley FC Ladies page is up to date, because it doesn't mention what happens after the 2023 end of partnership.
The team that plays in the S&H League is Barnsley FC Ladies' DEVELOPMENT (Reserve) team. If you look on Barnsley FC Ladies website, it's actually all about the Community aspect of the operation - you'll see they run teams right down to under 8, and theres the fixture list for the Development team. Last season this website also had details of the first team, but I assume this is now supposed to be incorporated into the main Barnsley FC website. This does seem to be happening, we now have squad pics and fixtures for example, but it is taking time - and the odd prompt on here!
That explains a lot. I think they need to get together though and create a clear strategy because they've made it far too confusing and all it will do is lose them support either through people finding it too much hard work and giving up or by going and supporting the 'wrong' team
The 'other' Barnsley women are backed by a big American sports company and going well in the league above, so I dont think it will happen any time soon, but I'd love to see Barnsley vs Barnsley one day for the pure novelty factor
