Yes, they need to be ruthless. I thought there was a bit of complacency today after we scored the first goal; "it's only Burton, and we're winning, why bust a gut"
I think the fact that we have a game Tuesday maybe stopped us going for the jugular as we could have done. Thought he might have taken Devante off earlier for that reason.
You've got to be pleased with 3 points and a clean sheet but I have to say the constant passing the ball around the back 3 was doing my head in. Even Burton were doing it when they were 2-0 down with 15 minutes to play FFS. On the positive side, no injuries or cards and 2 really nicely created and finished goals.
I've not seen the game yet so I'm not going to say too much and I've certainly never predicted us winning the league this year but....I think some people have this false conception that getting promoted means outplaying and steam rollering teams week in week out. It rarely does. It's a collection of games, some of them where you do play really well but many where the match is tight, the opposition is a threat but more often than not you find a way to win. This season. So far so good.
That performance to me screamed out top six but the game that got me excited this season was Wigan. Despite them having that early sending off, I thought we were superb. Port Vale game was a fluke but Wigan game been best performance of these first few games. We’ve got a few tough game coming up but I can see us still on similar form until FA Cup rounds come into play which would be great.
The fact that we've bought a better 'bench' and given ourselves some much better options, really works well for us. And it gives Neil and his team a nice managerial headache lol.
Why do we say "play like that against........" It's obviously a different approach against a better team, especially mentally for the players.
He's gonna be a marked man against the more physical sides .think pompey may fall into that bracket too.
Fortunately there's that much **** in this league that that's not a relegation showing but more mid table!
