Was always on the cards as he doesn't do full seasons anymore. Stick around long enough for the takeover to happen to keep things running smoothly and then leave when the new owner finds his own guy. I would expect when Neil goes his permanent replacement will be announced very quickly.
Was surprised he stayed tbh. Dee dar thread debating whether they want him is hilarious! https://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/topic/324301-would-you-hire-warnock-right-now/
Done another amazing job there, would have kept us up imho. Think they’ll drop like a stone if he goes.
Confirmed officially. https://www.htafc.com/news/2023/september/club-statement-stoke-to-be-neil-warnocks-final-game
Good luck to him. He came out of retirement to help them out, which he did. He doesn't need the grief and certainly has nothing to prove. One of the game's greatest managers IMO. Will always be a bit of a shame for me, that he never came here for a spell.
Confirmed leaving after next game. What's odds on him arriving at S6 or Swansea as a short term caretaker role within the next 7 to 10 days.
If we had appointed him, instead of Asbaghi, when every Reds fan could see he was the person most likely to keep us up, we would have been in a much better position now. It needed either Warnock or our board to change their approach though, and that was never going to happen. Such a shame, as I’d have loved to have Warnock as our manager. It certainly wouldn’t have been boring. Hopefully we don’t need to give him a call later this season. I keep hoping the Lamproom book Warnock for one of their ‘An Evening With…’ nights.
I thought he’d said in the past he’d only manage them to get them relegated? On current form (long may it continue) they won’t need him for that (maybe L1 to L2 next season though). I remember him playing for us and getting sent off for swearing at the referee and linesman, always a character.
