Madri Bland, generic, uninspiring Not horrible But nothing to write home about I think the phrase 'carling with a spanish badge' is quite apt
Nowt Spanish about it, all marketing. El Alma de Madrid my ar5e, it's as Spanish as the Alma in Wombwell.
Most overrated lagers are anything that purport to be foreign but use the water from the River Trent. Which is pretty much all of them now.
Carlsberg and Heineken taste horrible to me. Bud is bland, Fosters too sweet, Carling is ok. got some Cruz Campo in at the moment and enjoying that. Madri’s nice as is Bierra Morreti. Stella’s nice. It’s all about personal taste. Find it funny when beer drinkers who detest lager, start to differentiate between the different lagers
At the other end of the scale, Schiehallion by Harviestoun is probably the best lager I've ever tasted. Has got more flavour than some IPA's.
Talking of Schiehallion, I climbed to the top of it many years ago when in the BB. No way I could do that now. Not the worst lager but possibly one of the best was Praha. I had a few pints of it last year when visiting Chesterfield.
Holsten Pils is the single most nastiest tasting lager I've ever tasted. It used to be sold at a pub by the bus station, I forget its name. Rancid.
Praha is nice, but the Czech lagers just don't seem to taste anywhere near as good outside of Prague. Maybe they have a different brew for export which keeps for longer. Or maybe it's purely psychological!
Am not a big lager drinker and they all taste pretty much the same to me. I like Brewdog ales but can't stomach Lost (lager). Weirdly when abroad I like San Miguel, Peroni, Sagres, Superbock etc.
