Czech beers are excellent, we went in 2018 and tried a few, there was an excellent dark brown one (almost a stout). Last year I managed to find a few Czech beers in supermarkets in France and Spain which were very good. Of European lager-beers though, you can't beat Belgian ones.

You've created a false opposition there kid (and I hate it when people do that lol), there is NO such thing as an over rated lager.
Speaking as a big lager fan myself here of course. ;)
Although I admit, that the old pint of Skol was a bit pi*ssy. :D

Fair enough! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding, and presumably returning from your stag intact! Amsterdam?

Top hill that Ian, it looks like being my dogs last Munro she’s stuck on 171 but at 15 I think that’s her done for Munro’s, she’s sticking to Wainwright’s from now on. Wainwright’s, Coincidentally a poor beer.

There is only one winner here.

I'll admit there is a sort of inverted regional bias involved and don't believe the big man on Tayside but Tennents is a truly ******* abysmal liquid - so much so that actually calling it Lager is misnomer of epic proportions.

Lots of rubbish lagers. Skol, Baltica, Red Stripe, Carling and Bud to name a few.

Hoffmeister has been rebranded and relaunched as an "award-winning, world-class authentic Bavarian Beer" o_O

    Link

I had a few pints in Edinburgh recently - and putting the marketing psychobabble to one side - was quite a good pint.

Good luck with the Munros mate. I’ve a mate who for the last couple of years has been knocking them off. Almost every weekend he claims another.
I must have been only around 14 when I did Schiehallion but from memory it was more of a hard hike rather than any serious rock climbing. Although I believe the other side of the mountain is more for the Edmund Hillary’s of this world.

Wow yeah Double diamond ale/beer, I've still got a half pint glass with a handle, and the D.D logo on it. :)

And hey RonnieGB, is that true about the old Hoffer beer/lager, and what on earth were you doing in Edinbro of all places ?. :D
