    Shouldn't be a problem. He's only a young lad.

Totally agree. Looked like a different player tonight. Hope he kicks on now. I'd start him instead of Kane.

Bringing him on gave relief to Kane who was having a difficult time.
The pair of them were really good together.
It introduced a new dynamic in our midfield. Russell was too slow tonight and it was right to bring him off.

I can't see how Russell starts in front of styles anyway.

Russell played the pace Russell always plays.

Against poor sides he plays a few decent passes but does it in slow motion. Against anyone any good, he’ll invariably get found out if he has no legs around him. He could probably cope if he wasn’t playing with Kane, but you can’t play them both and Kane edges it, just, for me. Russell can’t start on Saturday, surely.

He reminds me of Jacob Mellis.

    But not as good…

    And he was usually crap.

    **** Brad Abbott, you're just a **** Brad abbot, **** Brad Abbott...

Could work nicely on Mock the Week as a new round called "songs you're least likely to hear in a football ground."

Russell is like a garden shed on wheels. I wouldn’t have him near our club if it was down to me.

Past barnsley players in this league who I have seen love a class above consistently are

    Kieffer moore
    Ethan pinnock
    Mads Anderson
    Luca connell

Styles has the ability to do this but we haven't seen it so far this season. I said the same on the mdt, some took it as a dig at him but I just hope he performs consistently how he can this season.

I said previously after winning we were getting away with no Connell last night in the first half we didn't. I would have changed things after 20mins it clearly wasn't working we were lucky it didn't get worse. Different game in the second half they were content to sit in how the midfield would have coped with the Pompey of the first half. Against inferior opposition Russell can cope the quicker passing he couldn't and twice seen him pull out of heading a ball where he might get a wack blimey he 6ft odd he should relish them.

Him & all the subs looked great but let’s not get carried away. Pompey were 3 up & thinking job done. It’s hard to get back on it when you’ve got complacent thinking it’s all over. We need to see him (& the others) perform well from the start for it to mean a lot.

Sorry to spoil it but The Beeb canned Mock the Week in November 2022. Could be revived by another channel but it would never be the same.
