I get that CR, and I suppose I should qualify by saying that I do understand the Crynes' ongoing involvement - Patrick's legacy and local connection and all that. But there's no such connection in respect of Neerav and JAQ. They are successful people, but with no apparent connection previously. Why would they sink money in to an enterprise that is simply marking time? Is it their inner Mr Micawber? I don't get it. But then, I'm not the multi-millionaire! :D

I've said from the day they arrived and said they weren't going to spend silly money that I don't understand it Orsen. I do think that Neerav and JAQ seem to have got the bug and become fans though JAQ is merely the front for a consortium so that's odd that she convinces them to keep putting money in. Maybe theyre so rich it's chicken feed for them so they indulge her. There's no doubting her enthusiasm though. If she was in it for other reasons she could just stay quietly in the US rather than making frequent trips over here, getting fully involved and weathering vitriolic abuse from our quota of internet morons.
It's all strange but we could have much worse I reckon.

I'm not sure it's investment mate. I believe it's more about covering losses. Which will keep us within FFP rules. Others may know differently

Ive never got it and never got it in football generally, its widely regarded as a money pit. These are very successful businessmen and women that have got that tag from being astute at business and all things financial. But they take over football clubs, most times with no links and lose money hand over fist. Look at the guy at Everton, 700m down the pan and for what... bugger all.
They could stick it in a bank and get 8%. Much easier and guaranteed to win. Theres defo something else in it why they do it. Money Laundering, tax dodges? Who knows but its the only business I know of where its almost impossible to make money but people still que up to takeover and continue the cycle.

Read an article on this subject on why would you, basically it said people either do it for pure vain of ‘I own a club’ or believe they are the one who can reach the promised land of PL riches or for most it’s actually a form of marketing for their own brand as the company and individual are linked to an English Football club and the kudos and exposure they gain from that.

Its bizarre. Cards on the table, even if i won 500m on the euros or suddenly found a long lost relative that croaked it and left same me the same amount. I wouldnt touch BFC with a shi**y stick.

I don't think there is a consortium any more, I think all the minority shareholders have been bought out by Neerav and JAQ. I genuinely believe they have as you say got the bug, especially JAQ. She's already brought an awful lot to the table in the short time she's been here, especially in regards to the women's team and her involvement in the shirt design (which love it or hate it has generated loads of publicity).

The Cryne family have owned us two decades and in that time we've never been an established championship club in that time. We've been a yoyo club for the most part.

Yeah the article I read didn’t say that but it’s been suggested and certainly seems feasible

I know what you mean. I’d probably pay for the West Stand to be redeveloped or pump some money into the academy if I had that money, but that would be it. I wouldn’t want to own the club.

Yes but I think JAQ heads up a small consortium of investors that make up her percentage of the shareholding. Either way she seems to have literally bought in to the club. :)

The fact is. Whether we like it or not. The financial realities of the championship mean without significant and sustained investment (and we’ve already had good investment) yo yo is where we are.

Cheers Gally. So it's just her and her husband who own her block of shares?

Sorry not been on much other than a few minutes yesterday morning but Gally's given the best substantive reply. The other thing to consider is that this most recent share issue pretty much achieves what you're suggesting and renders the Lee and PMG holdings pretty close to worthless in the scheme of things.

If we use the 4p a share on this issue as a proxy for current market price* then Lee's shares are now only worth £552k and PMG's c. £235k. I don't know for definite but I'd hazard a guess that Neerav would buy them both out at those sums if they were taking his calls.

(* - If anything this is inflated given the fact that other than a few chattels and some rapidly depreciating player contracts the club owns no real assets and is incurring substantial ongoing trading losses).
