Apparently there was a late change in official for the match yesterday. Alan Young. As previously mentioned, the referee we were supposed to have completely lost control of his last reds game, so therefore it seems it was a welcome change.

As for Mr Smith, the referee from Tuesday night, he finally dislodges David Rock, who has held the Doink the Clown award since the opening day.

Yeah saying the same on the BBC report and you have to believe the BBC, it’s compulsory :)

A bit of a weird comment.

As for the ref, whoever he was - didn't have a lot to do, but got the vast majority of his decisions correct. A bit too generous with his cards for my liking, but no complaints overall. A solid 7 from me.

Thanks, I vaguely recalled hearing Mr Young, but wasn't sure.

Only intended as a bit of banter MT not to be taken seriously. The bbc do have a reputation for checking everything so generally are a reliable source of information. I’ve amended it now with the addition of a smiley face

I thought he got very little wrong and let the game flow. I don't know if our penalty shout was a good one cos it was down the other end. Don't remember being up in arms about anything he did really, other than a couple of our bookings looking very soft. On that basis he gets a 7.

Didn't really have any big decisions to get wrong, thought a couple of our yellows were OTT for the incident. A solid 6 from me.

Got O'Keeffe's booking wrong for me. He was indicating it was for two fouls in a row, the first of which he played advantage. There was no contact in the first foul.

Fair enough mate. I've obviously been spending too much time on Twitter reading the pearls of wisdom of the "BBC is lying to you, you need to read tinfoilhatnews.com that only I know about" brigade.

Yes, agree. I knew he'd made one very poor decision and that was it. Still a solid display though.

and in contrast to O'Keeffe's booking, gave their player a lecture for the same type of "professional" foul on Styles within a couple of minutes. Generally fell for their diving about a bit but otherwise ok

I’ll go against the grain. Kept booking our players for nothing challenges who’d letting them getaway with far worse. Also bottled the penalty decision. It’s a foul anywhere else on the field.

Went for an 8 in an acknowledgment that I go really low when they are terrible so should probably go a bit higher when they are alright. Was going to do 7 but then not sure what a ref would have to do for three extra points, 8 still leaves two more to aim for.

Gave him a six marked down because of his inconsistent approach to bookings - happy to book our players straight away but give a lecture and warning to the Northampton players , Had a poor view though the nets but he didnt seem to do too much wrong with giving decisions for fouls etc and let the game flow. Having seen a replay of our penalty shout I dont think he got that wrong - arguably its a penalty but I'd be furious if given against us for that little contact
