I'm hoping that someone based in the Portsmouth area (@pompey_red?, @portsmouth tyke?) might be able to help me out. My neighbour here in France is deeply into military history and is currently doing some research for which he needs a couple of photos of a very specific section of the Naval Memorial there. If someone were in the area and willing to help out then he and I would be very grateful. Not that even our combined gratitude is really worth anything in cash money, or anything like that, but even in these jaded times I'd like to think it counts for something. I can provide full details and contact information (mine, not his - French speaking not required) via PM. Thanks.
Absolutely not a problem mate, and I would decline cash anyway, costs nothing to be decent, PM me is email address and I'll send mine to you to forward on to him
That's brilliant, @portsmouth tyke. Thanks so much. It'll be easier to go through me (he doesn't speak English) so I'll PM you my details and those of the assignment. Gotta love the BBS.
I knew you would be, @pompey_red. I've sent the info over to @portsmouth tyke and he's on it but thanks too for the kind offer.
3 Barnsley fans in Pompey. Who would have thought it? Bet you had a splendid time with the locals after last Tuesday's result
Received some great pictures from @portsmouth tyke today of the memorial plaque bearing the name of the person my neighbour has been researching. Thanks again to him for taking the time and making the effort to go down there and do that - it's much appreciated. I knew I could rely on the BBS.
I listen to a podcast called the Luke and Pete show. Luke is originally from the area, and talks at great length about school trips he had to Stubbington Study Centre.
