Seems a nice genuine guy. Travelled on the same coach as him to Wembley with the East Dene Reds. Be great to see him win a title fight especially at Oakwell. Good luck Callum hope you go all the way.
Yeah thought the same. He's often in the fan zone and comes across as a humble genuine lad. Seems to have time for everyone.
Would love to see him at Oakwell in the future (Having never attended a boxing match) an. I dont know how far he is from a title fight. ranked 9th in the uk and 59th in the world. Fights the 80th ranked on Saturday and expects a tough fight. more so than with the original opponent. Ranked 150th. Good luck Callum.
Not sure what that means mate. Doe it mean the winner will get a shot at it next fight. ? Edit. Just read up on it and realise that they are fighting for it. What does it mean in real terms given they are ranked 59 and 80 in the world. Im not up on boxing at all. Genuine question.
Is this intercontinental belt going to push him to the fore mate. I don't get all these different world titles malarkey. I preferred it when there was only one Bona fide world champion.
Half a groat. (Or 8 farthings). if you dont mind. . Seen them fish n chips and peas. Ont tuther thread. 3d Chips and 6d Fish. ( Couldn't afford mushy peas) in my day. Nar £13. what's all that abart.
My friends son boxes at the same gym where Callum started out . He came down to the gym other week and helped out with the kids training . Lovely lad who deserves all the success
Not really. Basically it serves two purposes. You can only do a 12 round fight (which he needs in preparation for bigger tests to come) if there’s a title on the line. If there’s not then the most he can box is 8 rounds. English title & area belts are 10 rounds & then British, European, World titles & intercontinental are all 12 rounders. Ideally you want your fighters to have gone 12 rounds in a bit of a warm up fight before he has to do it in a really tough fight for the British title for example. In this scenario they basically pay the WBA to put their belt on the line & it will get him moved up the rankings but I don’t think a world titles in anyone’s thoughts anytime soon. It’s all about getting him experience in 12 round fights. The world ranking could help for example if a challenger in an upcoming world title fight gets injured or fails a drug test they might go down the rankings & someone like Callum could get a shot sooner than expected if he’s ready to take it.
It doesn't mean anything really, it's just a strap, like the European belt. It'll raise his profile further though.
