We found something out yesterday. And it is a worrying fact at that. If a semi-decent team comes to sit in and stay in shape, allow no space and just let us have the ball, we are toothless and can do nothing about it. The problem being, we’ve already seen that if a semi-decent team comes to have a go and come at us, we will give away chance after chance - and so concede a few against the better teams who take some of the chances. In summary, we look vulnerable against opponents at home, no matter what they plan to do or how they set up. It’s not promising. I’m also massively concerned having read Collins’ Yorkshire Post interview. Said he expected Blackpool to come at us and not doing so threw him and the team. They hadn’t as much as scored a goal away from home all season. They were never going to come here and be expansive.
I agree with this and it’s the reason why we don’t come back when we go a goal down. It’s hard to break down a packed defence and not too many teams at this level can do it. I respect Collin’s commitment to blooding young talent, but surely it should be in the last fifteen minutes when you’re comfortably winning, not starting a game. We have a good away following, but the non travelling home fans deserve better than this.
Imho the coach is learning his trade, having been away. The back 3 are still very much learning too. We seem to struggle against a high press
If we have a go, we create chances, as shown in the last 20 mins yesterday and the second half against Portsmouth. But you've got to mix it up a bit, short ball, long balls, keep the other team guessing. And show some drive and ambition.Blackpool aren't Barcelona. It felt like the team had been coached to do exactly what they were doing yesterday. Kane just seemed intent on keeping his pass completion rate at 97%. The fans might put up with it had we sneaked a 1-0 but Collins is skating on thin ice if the results don't come.
It is for me. I've only managed to get to 2 games so far due to holidays and other stuff going on. The way they are playing at home I feel like a winner!!
A manager who isn’t good enough. We seem to get one right a season then one wrong. Dare I say it, Poya would have got more out of this side than Collins…
Tippy Tappy sideways backwards crap. Gives opponents chance to get everyone back behind the ball. I'd rather watch Ismaels style any day.
That's what happens when you are constantly changing a manager every season along with half the team. Always on the back foot until he finds his way through it and playing catch up or is deemed not good enough. I think this one will end up being the latter
Thoughtful post. After losing 3 at home it's not a coincidence - at first it seemed that we were just not smart enough against better prepared teams and good players who were motivated and coached to exploit our weakness. But we had our chances. But then there was a bit of deja vu about each defeat after the first one. Yesterday, a different game, we were given the ball and couldn't beat a team coming only to defend. Work that one out and come to a positive conclusion beyond that we're struggling. Despite where we are in the league Now it's 4.
