Next season don't cancel friendlies left right and centre. That way the manager might have a clue about the team before October
Yes, because two or three meaningless matches against non-league opponents that are primarily used for fitness would really help the manager decide who best to use against Portsmouth. The squad have trained together pretty much every day allowing him to evaluate the players.
Or don't sell the players who we kno and understand then replace them with players who never played at this level....
Tbf, I'm pretty sure that it wasn't Khaled's decision. I believe I read that Collins' said he didn't want to play as he wanted more time on the training pitch instead. Yes, Khaled could've insisted, but I don't think it would've been wise to create a potential issue with Collins a week or so into his tenure.
It was Collins who requested the first to be cancelled. (Forget exactly but think it was Guisley) Fylde was totally out of our control. Blackburn played. But behind closed doors. Hull played Worksop played Crewe played. If you are talking Athersley it was a strange decision but would not have been 1st team squad.
Problem on Saturday was our right wing back, for reasons best known to himself, decided, from about 20 yard away, he was going to slide in and take out one of their players. In our own penalty area. That gave the opposition a free goal after which they got 11 men behind the ball and managed to keep us out. I can't blame lack of friendlies on that, it was just a daft thing to do. And I can't blame the sale of any of our players as O'Keeffe isn't a replacement for anyone, he was brought in as an addition to the squad. And I can't blame the recruitment team because only about a week ago, I, along with many others, was waxing lyrical about how bloody good O'Keeffe looked. I'd just ask O'Keeffe to please not do that again, and if he feels the same urge, to tell the manager before the game so we can select someone who doesn't want to give away a penalty.
Forgot that one tbh. In fact found this. So why blame Khaled.? Barnsley call off friendly visit to Mansfield Town on Tuesday Barnsley stated: “The game was set to be played by a Barnsley XI on Tuesday evening. “But after assessing the squad, new head coach Neill Collins, felt that the players set to be involved would benefit from working solely within the main training group ahead of the start of the season on 5th August.”
Devaney and one of the other coaches took charge. I think Collins was taking charge of his last game for Miami.
who cancelled on watford to play man city on a training ground Mr el ahmed doesn't seem to think it's any help playing games in front of fans like we do in proper games
Nowt like taking a thread onto another tangent. Thought the criticism was about this season. I know what. I was wrong about Mansfield so can't blame Khaled. I'll use another example from a couple or so years ago.
Don't read the BBS it's full of ******* lunatics, we'd be sacking more managers than Madrid and be running the club worse than Chansiri.
