I can't wait for a list of the Top 10 threads, which have asked for the Top 10 best or worst or average players etc.
A few up front over the years, some who rarely get a mention in anything, so I am including them here. John Macdonald Ian Walsh Calvin Plummer Winston Campbell Andy Saville. Roger Wylde Ron Futcher Andy Payton Brendan O'Connell.
Liked him a lot Jay missen. Mel Machin threw him under the bus with his selections. And never gave him a real run in the side. Good honest pro. I used to watch all the reserve team games in that period. Was a delight to watch em.
Not saying I didn't like him, he was just, well... average. Like you say, a good honest pro, but he wasn't special. Or I don't think so, and this thread isn't about players we don't like or we think were rubbish, just players who were just OK.
Marc Richards. Gave you absolutely everything and put his heart and soul into each game. Scored two beauties against Forest at their place. Top notch Mr Average.
Depends how you define average. A lot of the players named I really liked and they were good servants! If you call it a player who absolutely found the right level for their ability with us and where we were at the time, I'd say Stephen Foster.
Stephen McPhail - I always thought he played well within himself for us. He had a bit of quality but seemed to just go through the motions and take the easy option throughout his spell here. Never poor but never great
What an interesting one that was. He wouldn't have been out of place in half of the Premier League teams at the time but never looked effective in League One. A model luxury player.
