    I think I'd give him a go.

Love Ismael, a brilliant manager, but can't people give the manager we've got a chance?

i'm beginning to lose complete faith in the entire human race at the moment, and I started on a hair string.

    I do not understand.

West Brom were 5th in the Championship when they sacked him.

Whilst I enjoyed most of that season under Val. 3/4 clubs towards the end of the season worked out how to combat our style. Wednesday certainly did. And sadly so did Swansea.
I also have to add. One of the worst games I have ever seen, was Wycombe at home. A game of Head tennis.
Not until the job became available would I consider him. And Collins deserves more time.

Val or Stendel. Blitzkrieg style is better on the eye and gets results.

Opponent can't score when the ball's in the back of their net ;) unlike when we're tossing the ball back to the keeper when we're deep in the opponent's half...

It does make me laugh when people curl their nose up at the thought of Warnock or Ismael, because of the ‘style’ of football. It’s as if we usually play like Ajax in the early 70s!

In the 40 years since Norman Hunter got the chop, how many seasons have we actually played great football? Not very many. But two of the most successful seasons have been under Ismael and Bassett. Not many wanted Bassett, cos of his ‘style’, but there weren’t many people complaining on the way to Wembley (less said about the match itself the better!). If things don’t improve under Collins I’d take Ismael or Warnock in a heartbeat. I’m not enjoying going down to Oakwell to keep watching us lose.

For me it's not a comment on the present guy mate, it's more - would i like Redfearn back in midfield, or would i like to go back to being 23 and having long dirty sessions with NDN.

It should also be said that a manager’s style is often dictated by the players he has at his disposal. Just look at the difference between Allan Clarke’s two spells!

Not a comment on Collins mate. It was prompted by me reading an article in the Athletic about Val.

I have been underwhelmed by Collins so far, and think we should be doing better than we are, with the players at his disposal.

However, I think he should be given time.

Duff started to get us going in November and we didn’t really look back. That said, I could see what he was trying to do prior to this.

I think it’s fair to give Collins until January.

I know that does potentially sound a bit daft / short termist , but if I see no improvement in what has been served up so far then I think we would be hanging around mid table and detached from the top six, which is simply not good enough.

Exactly how I feel Hooky....I'm glad you brought up the Wycombe match, just two teams giving the ball gbh, awful.
Style over substance?...I guess more people will want winning football...whatever the cost.
Let's see how Collins gets on imho, he is still learning.

Basset was renowned for long ball (not the same as the high press of Val.) as in Wimbledon. And fans rightly feared that style. Then he struggled at most of his other clubs (Palace the exception) prior to us. We played a far more entertaining game than predicted.
That's not a slight against Warnock or Val. Just how I saw the Basset period.

I think Cole and Cosgrove would be well suited. McAtee’s pressing works well too.
