Obviously any option that the image was photoshopping has now been quashed with the guy admitting to the offence. Although ya first reaction was anger and disgust I now find myself wondering how in hell this idiot thought anyone would find this acceptable. His fellow Wednesday fans would like to string him up (good on them) and apparently his work and local footy team have given him the kiss off...but yve got to ask what is mentally wrong with these 2 that even in todays society where social media puts eveything in the public domain they gave no thought that there would be huge consequences for their actions...yve got to despair.

Some people are just ***** sadly. Pathetic that at 31 he's going to games, getting coked up and taunting rival fans with images of children who have tragically passed away. If he were 18 then you'd give him a bit of leeway for the idiocy of youth, but at 31 he should know better and is past the point at which he would have grown out of it if it were ever going to happen.

To be balanced with the fact that there used to be a lot more actual violence at football matches.

Before the image came out of the lad pointing his phone at the Sunderland fans (I can't tell from the photo where he and the away fans are stood and if he actually is pointing it at them) was there any umbrage/discontent from Sunderland fans at the ground or on social media? I have looked on their forum and couldn't find any posts. And if not, and it's only the person who snapped him pointing his phone who spotted it, isn't posting it on social media hurting Bradley's family and sort of stirring a hornet's nest? Why didn't they just send it to the cops?

I think it’s one thing been a **** in the heat of the moment but then to double down on it in that WhatsApp group is the worst thing about it in my opinion.

He clearly didn’t give a **** until the cops paid him a visit. If he’d held his hands up & apologised straight away then he’s still been an arsehole but at least he’s realised what he’s done & tried to put it right. The WhatsApp’s messages are horrendous.

I'm not a criminal lawyer but I very much doubt it, as otherwise you would stymie the reporting of any offensive incidents. I imagine intent is the deciding factor.

I agree with you, has it been kept as a matter between the idiot with the phone, whoever took the photo, Sheff Wed and the police then it would have been better for everyone. What's it achieved putting it all over the internet - more upset for the family, probably just what he wanted.

The flip side to that though is that hopefully it should act as a deterrent to future tossers who think they're funny with the BANTZ.

    thanks.

The guy admitted his intention was to taunt the Sunderland supporters.
I wonder if in his defence he had claimed he was showing the image to show his solidarity with the child's family he may have got off ??

No idea what the punishment/ sentence will be but I would love the judge to order unpaid work for a couple of months working in a hospice and for him to see end of life patient's, to see the heartache of them and their families, and experience first hand what a truly vile disease cancer is, personally and only imo I think this would / could give him one big shake up, I could be wrong but it would do more good than a fine/ short sentence imo

I saw that suggested elsewhere, but then someone asked this question:

"If your child was in end of life care, would you want this absolute waste of skin anywhere near them?"

I genuinely don't know what the sentence should be - maybe living with the fact that the bloke is unemployable for the rest of his life is enough - I don't know.

Living off state handouts. I'd rather see him forced into some kind of voluntary work.

Sadly not, there's already been a Newcastle supporter posting even worse things online in relation to Bradley, and I mean much worse.
