I personally don't think the defence was the reason Cambridge had some good chances tonight. I'm struggling to think of any mistakes from our defenders. I think we made some mistakes in midfield which let them at us. I also think, to counter that, that each of the midfielders produced some brilliant offensive paly.
Agreed and credit to them - they were good going forward, particularly at creating chances. Set pieces were excellent too
You right mate.....we’ve just won 4 nil away from home after a disappointing home defeat.....I think we all need you to go in dressing room and criticise our defence for nearly conceding a goal or 2.....ffs lol....let’s not not give any credit for doing tonight cos we were lucky eh???
In the first half 2 of our defenders went to head the ball at the same time which resulted in a shot and save albeit straight at him.I think Their first half chances all came from ‘ sloppy play’ on our part, but I hasten to add that’s being ultra critical considering how we have played tonight
It was a late challenge. After already being booked the wood chip, sorry the writing was on the wall.
As Eric Clapton sang - wonderful tonight. All praise and no grumble. Eau de Givenchy tonight was the polar opposite of his debut. What a turnaround.
We conceded more chances and they actually had more shots on target than we did. Chances taken brilliantly and nine times out of ten that performance will win the games in this league - but even in winning 4-0, much like when we won 7-0, there were still one or two areas of concern and we still look to have a soft underbelly. That said, if we hold on to Roberts all season then we will get away with it more than we won’t. I just hope Boro don’t recall him in January to sell (or play). Great away win tonight though. Hopefully another to follow this weekend.
Who said we were lucky? It's a terrific win. Nobody's said otherwise. But if you think Collins and his staff aren't working on addressing how often we were opened up when they're back in training this week, you're incredibly naive.
Be careful, you're not allowed to make any critical remarks whatsoever. WGRed will be down on you like a ton of bricks....
100% this. The defence looked solid tbf. It was the midfield that seemed to allow Cambridge to play quite deep in our half. However, tactically that worked - as it allowed us to hit them on the break. That I believe is Collins’ signature game plan. Soak up pressure, and smash them on the break.
Great to watch that on iFollow and it must have been marvellous being there for the travelling fans. Nights like that just make you tear your hair out compared to our appalling home results. Every player contributed and I think Kane was given a different role to play with Russell back in the team, and it suited both of them. Easily the best I have seen both of them play so it looks like a good pairing with Styles given licence to go where he wants. Benson looked the business when he came on as well. Ok they got through us a few times and our keeper had to make plenty of good saves but so what? It just added to the all-round entertainment for me. Obviously had we only been winning 1-0 I would not have been quite so relaxed but the goals came at regular intervals and we could easily have had at least six. McAttee had it on a plate near the end and should have lofted it over the keeper instead of straight at him, but that's only a minor criticism. The all whites really looked good tonight, from back through the middle to the front - a well-oiled machine! I see Exeter have had a heavy defeat tonight and we owe them one after last season so I can see no reason why we can't keep up this winning away run. Well played tonight lads - you were a credit to yourselves and the football was fast and attractive to watch. More of the same please
I don’t think Roberts was that outstanding tonight, most of tonight’s saves were pretty much routine and almost straight at him. He’s having a great season so far, but tonight wasn’t a spectacular one for him. The areas for concern in the first half were mainly of our own doing, I’ll give us some leeway for 2nd half with us cruising
Kane and Russell work really well against the lesser quality teams that don’t press them and aren’t fast. They struggle against pace and pressure as a pair though of course gave individual merits
Great win, excellent bounce back after Saturday. Some good performances tonight. If only we could sort out the home form. Just think the style of play is more suited to away games than home.
