We're still a work in progress so surely it will get even better given time.

Hopefully they are staying down south, bed by half 11 and trying to iron out our defensive frailties in the next few days borrowing the facilities of another club.

Great win and performance especially the first 45 minutes felt more like a last season type of performance all be it with a much more vulnerable defence but thankfully they hit most things straight at Roberts. MoM either DeGevigney or Russell both outstanding.

De Gevigney had a good game, but I was a little concerned by how easily he was outpaced on one occasion in the first half.

Very good win and performance....all played well.
It suited our midfield that they had no press and gave them lots of room to pick out passes and control the game, which we did effectively.
Even though Robert's had another fantastic game the result was never really in doubt, our passing seemed crisper and I enjoyed it more than any other game tbh.

Really enjoyed tonight I thought we looked much more positive and don't mind giving the odd chance away if we are playing on the front foot and looking dangerous. Good confidence boost for Mael, Watters and Russell who all played well.

As much as that makes sense I doubt they will be, budget and all that.

A long way back to Barnsley, to travel even further south Friday dinner.

Yeah but massively cheaper than putting c.30 people up for four nights in a hotel, as well as feeding and watering them several times a day.

Surprisingly, according to Google Maps, travel time from Exeter to Cambridge and Exeter to Barnsley are both ~4 hours and 30 minutes. We have the advantage of motorway all the way, and Cambridge doesn't unless you divert via London or Birmingham.

Given the players will have today off anyway, they'll probably be better resting at home - most of them have families/partners.

As different as chalk and cheese from the Blackpool performance. A big win away from home, another clean sheet. Even when Cambridge got through, they found Roberts in top form.
A terrific way to bounce back.

Bit late in the day for a reply to this but saw it after looking for something else...

Don't you think he played better on Tuesday than he has at any other point this season?

I did, I thought it was his best game this season by a long, long way. Just about back to his best, like he was second half of last season, when I thought he was destined for the Premier League. I haven't thought that this season, not by a long chalk, not until Tuesday. Maybe giving him a rest and then bringing him back worked?

100% it was right to drop him.
However great decision to pick him again.

You may well be right there. He took a while to get going last season as well. An in-form Nicky Cadden is a matchwinner, which is why I think he should be spending as much time as possible on the field. But I definitely agree that he hadn't got close to last season's heights until Tuesday.

As for the Premier League, he'd probably already be there if he had the pace of someone like Kyle Walker. Unfortunately, pace can't really be coached. I still think he's close to our best left back since Darren Barnard though. Getting him to sign a new deal is imperative, but I think he's unlikely to stay unless we go up, and maybe not even then.
