Whats with all the fawning over them challenging for promotion? I wouldn't say that y blew the league away last year, although they were good against us at Oakwell. Personally I'd be surprised to see them top half!
For me I think they did blow away the rest of the league last season barring Plymouth, scoring 101 goals (19 more goals than anything else) and conceding the least as well. Momentum is a massive thing in football and even if they went into the new season with no new signings I would've thought they'd do well.
They blew away virtually everyone in the final few months of the season, by the time they played us they'd built up such momentum that no-one was going to stop them. Like Wrexham and Notts found out yesterday though, it doesn't always carry on into the next season in a higher division. They could've had a couple of goals at Sunderland so far tbf, equally could've conceded a couple too. Think they'll be safely mid table. Edit: now they've scored, albeit a poxy one
Best team in league one last season definitely be top half I have thought. Sunderland made the play offs straight after promotion with a squad average age of just 23 can see Ipswich doing just aswell maybe going one better.
i think that couple of week international rest went alongway to how well they finished the season aswell, could av gone àgainst them like losing momentum.i wouldnt av fancied them in play offs though.
Currently winning at Blackburn which takes them to top of the league with 7 wins in their opening 8 games.
I don't know how they keep doing it. McKenna is either a wizard endowed with powers by the devil/God, or teams keep drastically underestimating them. Because they just aren't that good. They've got championship rejects throughout their side. So its a little from both columns for me.
We missed a trick in 16/17 we had that promotion momentum. It counts for a lot. I think we did in 19/20 too. Replace Kieffer Moore like for like and we'd have pushed on that season too. Even though we struggled our general play was quite impressive at times.
Not doing too bad top ATM. Always had a soft spot for them since 2000 at Wembley, even though they was some bother after our game there last season they still alway seem a decent bunch hope they go up.
I hate them after that. I think how different this club could have been had Hignett took the first penalty and Hristov not headed straight at Richard Wright.
Would have been nice to have another season in the top tier but clubs go down and fast as they go up. Look at blackpool, Bradford, Derby, pompey etc we would possibly be in this league had we beat Ipswich that day.
Surprised the Ipswich manager hasn’t been linked with the Rangers job. Must be confident he can take them up.
i wa behind goal with hristov header and i personally thought it was a very good save, keeper we have now make saves look easier than what they actually are.
didnt redders sayy bradford finishedconnnnn less points that us they stayed up we eent down, we had better players when we went down pity wilson went to pigs,i dont hold a grudge he played with them a lot of yrs, besides wed av never signed higgy who wa a different class allthough redders was mi favouite. player
You could tell they’d got some serious momentum around them when they bet us 3-0. Expected them to challenge for top 6 but not to be quite as strong as they are currently.
