Interviewing John F Keenan tomorrow.

Just had a great chat with him on the phone. Meeting at the Brude tomorrow in Hyde Park, Leeds.

This will make up the 4th part of my 4 points in Punk series, based on the North of England, as opposed to London.

Made up. The biggest promoter of punk in the north by a mile. Will be a ball.

Won't go out for a few weeks, due to scheduling.

Then need to look at the next project...

Interesting interviews in shows 2 & 3. Show 2 is with DJ Chico Malo & show 3 Tony Davidson (TJM Studios / label from Manchester). Show 1 is my take on the roots of the UK punk movement, but there's no interview on that one.

The final show I'll need to schedule with my mate Alex over at Pattern Radio, when I get it edited. It will go out live, but then will be archived on Mixcloud with the others.

 

Looking forward to this. Went to the Playhouse a few months ago for an event about the "F" Club and punk scene in Leeds in the late seventies. There were performances from young local actors, one portraying John. Afterwards there was an interview with a couple of faces from the scene at the time . John has some fascinating stories and the amount of bands he has put on is unbelievable. I've been to hundreds of his promotions over the years including Joy Division, Oasis and even U2 (who he has put on 5 times!) for 50p. He should have a blue plaque put up somewhere to commemorate the impact he had on music in Leeds. A true legend.
