1918 when Arsenal bribed other chairman to let them into the expanded Division One. We just need to replay every season since.

He's a moron and it's laughable that he's slagging people off for not having thought it through when it's him who is being massively short sighted.

The error wasn't deliberate. It was a genuine **** up in communication. It was only realised when the game had kicked off again. Rightly or wrongly the rules are that once the game has kicked off it is case closed in terms of decision making and the referee has no discretion to do anything further about it. It is not open to the officials to ignore fundamental rules of the game in order to give effect to what they consider justice. What if a ref in League 1 sends somebody off in the last minute of the first half and then at half time sees a video which proves he got it wrong? Should he be able to exercise his judgment to unsend him off or arbitrarily send off a player from the other team to even things up?

Allowing refs discretion to rewrite the laws of the game on the fly would be absolutely crazy.

No of course not. That’s a completely different scenario & not at all relatable.

I think it's time to rethink the entire concept of VAR, personally, I think it should only be used for matters of objective FACT ie offside, ball in or out of play (or goal) or if the ball has struck a hand or arm. All other subjective JUDGEMENTS ie whether something was intentional or accidental should be up to the referee on the pitch. Also the signalling of objective facts detected by VAR should be communicated clearly to the referee, maybe by sounding a buzzer in the ref's earpiece.

    It's not effing rocket science.

As for replaying games, complete tosh. Otherwise I think that Germany have a good case for replaying the 1966 World Cup final....

Liverpool are England’s most insufferable club. All the entitlement of the big clubs but without the glory hunter cache.

I'd have laughed my c ock off if they'd have curtailed the 19/20 season and voided it.

Why? It's the wrong decision being given by mistake only for the officials to realise after play has restarted that the decision given was definitely wrong.

And if you ignore the hypothetical the rest of my post holds true.
