Went to the gymnastics in Liverpool. Really enjoyed it, much better than on tv. And been to the Strictly tour, the costumes were amazing, sparkled so much more than on the tv!
All Ireland Gaelic final for me too. Still hoping to finally see a Mayo win before I die! Seems to be quite a Mayo link on this site.
Any Lions tour matches... I'd also like to see the big ice hockey game in the NHL that's played outdoors. Also the Cheese rolling race at Coopers Hill, Gloucestershire.
My Mum's family came from Mayo in the 1840's...Castlebar, Kilkelly and more specifically the Parish of Aghamore.
I've been trying to figure this one out but I'm close to agreeing with you MT. An All Ireland football final with Kerry beating the Dubs.
I flew down from San Francisco to Sydney in 2013 for the 3rd Test. Luckily, the series was 1-1, so the game had merit. In 1989 I was living in Perth and playing rugby. The Lions opened the tour with a game against Western Australia, which I attended. One night, each local team was assigned two Lions players to entertain. My Scottish mate, Fraser, and I picked up Rory Underwood and Dai Young from the team hotel and took them to a few bars in Freo and Perth. We then ended up at a private room in a nightclub in Cottesloe, where we partied with the whole Lions entourage. Happy days!
Green Bay v Chicago at Lambeau. Boxing Day test. Final stage of the Tour de France (and Cav winning it)
Ryder Cup F1 race at Spa, Silverstone, Monza or Imola A Seahawks game State of Origin Ashes test (either country) A big wave surfing event like at Nazaré
Ashes test for sure. Any of the big 4 US sport championship games would be a worthy experience I reckon. As an aside, I was at the wrestling show at Wembley in August. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but, being that it's and event built entirely around provoking crowd reactions, the live experience was incredible.
I nearly included The Masters, or Ryder Cup, however I do genuinely think golf is better to watch on the telly, as you get to see just about every shot.
Wouldn't that be a turn up for the books, especially after it transpired that your dad was close mates with my uncle! Don't have loads of details, but can send you what I know. Will ask my mum.
Ex wife's family from Ballina and they owned quite a bit of property etc there... hope you're not related to her though
Another one, here, with grandparents from Mayo. Did any of our other Mayo ancestors, who moved to Barnsley, have links to PJ Burke’s at Wombwell? As a kid, I always remember my Grandad going out on the lash (Irish style, very messy) with his Irish pals who all seemed to work for ‘Burkey’s’
