Yea...I don't live in barnsley but I took dad in about 3 months ago....he goes to the meat place you mentioned and bought some pork pies, the bloke asked if he wanted potters or speeds...he asked for one of each and favored potters...I tried and agreed.
We used to ger em at Skirlington Market but they dunt come anymore, an when wife phoned Potters up for a Steak square slab they've stopped selling em, i've gone local nar, but there's nowt as good as a Potters pie,
Said it several times on here that the club is missing a trick not selling a locally sourced growler in the ground - my favourite is Potters
Percy Turners liquefied jelly and barely cooked meat......not for me, bloody orrible. There, I've said it. Living, as I do, in the capital of pie making, I'd say a proper hand made (not the supermarket version) Dickinson & Morris Melton Mowbray Pork n Stilton is the best.
Melton can go **** themselves if they think their pies are better than Barnsley's. Leicestershire *******.
Speedy’s and Percy’s both great but Rob Royd’s farm shop and especially Elmhurst at Goldthorpe top them, honourable mention for Lily’s near the sty is pretty good
You know my choice mate. But honestly. When I'm choosing chips pie n peas as a meal rather than a snack. I go larger in the meyt n tatie or steak pie category. I'd struggle to pick a favourite though. I don't know who make their own. My lad swears by Whykes. (But as said. Don't know if they make their own. )
Well done. **** them in Sheffield, l won't even shop at Meadowhall anymore and I'm checking the cutlery for Sheffield stamps on it. My angers increased since Wembley.
M Dads were the best, made of proper puwerk))(not gammon cut ups) filled wi Gravy(not Jelly) Big lumps of puwerkD) & a short crust pastry, ow I.
