I remember being at the rope a dope game at Exeter in 1981 where we were under the cosh and nicked a 1-0 win. That must have been a sh*t team too. Banks, Glavin, Evans, Macarthy, Aylott, Parker, McHale etc. All rubbish.
Sloppy performance where a defeat was as likely as a victory. MDG our best player again. Ooh la la! Which is not saying much. Williams J was OK. Plus goalie. Styles and Kane were awful, and Watters managed to plumb new depths of uselessness. Perhaps Exeter were better opposition than some we've played so far this season. I doubt it though. Still can't detect a settled team or tactics. Even though it was the same starting 11. But we keep winning away, and that's the most important thing. Happy night, and great for those troopers who gave their day to go all that way to watch it.
Never like us losing, I’m just more outspoken when we lose, so what, call it a coping mechanism or whatever. Furthermore it feels a hell of a lot better when we win after I expect us to lose. A pleasing win today, always nice to win it late on. Personally I just hope performances in terms of entertainment can improve then we’re well on our way. But I’d still expect us to lose.
We are way off the standard we reached last season and yet third in the league !!! So inconsistent in performance, but take the points today. Exeter will feel hard done by. Not the same side without Stansfield. Hopefully we will be able to start to pick some points up at home and move into the top two by Christmas. Connell is a massive miss still.
Exactly, we are way off the standard of the end of last season definitely but that was after a whole season of development and training. I think we are in a better spot now than this time last season. If we can escape that bad run of form we had last October then we’re on for a cracking season imo
I was there as well. Part of that long unbeaten run and a hard fought win. Not all wins can be convincing with free-flowing football. We did some of that though often enough. How could we not with that team!
