Doing a bit of mental exercising this Sunday morning...

Extrapolating current form and we finish on 84* points with a plus 49* goal difference.
    *Rounded down.

    Therefore:
    League 1 22-23 - 5th place
    League 1 21-22 - 5th place
    League 1 20-21 - 3rd place

Only Ipswich last season beat the +49 GD though.

Obviously, highly unlikely that we will exactly maintain the same form...one additional win in every six at home means we finish on 92, which was 4th last year; but top on GD for 2021-22 and top with 3 points clear for 2020-21.

I think it's reasonable to expect our home form to improve, but likewise we're unlikely to remain unbeaten away.

Yes and it's also unlikely that we'll get another three 7-0's in the season.

Correct. In fact I'd be surprised if we get 3 more 7-0's in my lifetime!

Well I'm 71 and that was my first and almost certainly my last!

I’m just behind you and it was my first seven up as well. Seen a few fives and sixes over the years but seven nil was a great result, deserved or not.

There have been plenty of seasons when we’ve all said “somebody is going to get a spanking before too long” but it never seems to happen. Well it has now and I’m glad I was there to see it

Does 7 1 count against Huddersfield

I elected to watch that on Sky instead of making the journey up from Gloucester that night. I’ve done that a few times over the years and missed great nights like that and the Tottenham cup win. I missed the recent Chelsea one as well in favour of watching on the BBC. I was in Princes Risborough at the time.

That’s the problem with living some distance away most of my life. I’ve sometimes had to choose whether or not to travel. You can’t always make the right decision.

I'm very happy with where we are at the moment. Think there's a lot more to come from this team, so I think third place and an extrapolated average of there or thereabouts at the end of an extremely patchy few months bodes well.

Think when connell is back, we'll be a very good side, so 3rd at the moment is good for us

After just 11 games I reckon this is premature extrapolation.

I was lucky enough to see that one AND the 7-3 against Brizzle City in 1961 - so three sevens in all, but only the one to nil.
If only Higgy had put away his pen that night against Huddersfield, we'd have had an 8 to savour...ah well musn't be greedy :)

Plus he had an hat trick on his debut.
On the night I was happy to concede the 1 goal, and penalty miss.
Looking back it would have been my biggest win in my life of watching the Reds.
