But she's not as beautiful as this goal. One thirty two in. Watch it and weep.

It's astonishing. I've just watched it, what, at least 25 times, and every time McAtee gets his head on that perfect cross it just makes me gasp. It's an amazing goal.

I don't disagree with anything you've said, but the best bit of the goal for me is De Gevigney's interception. It's absolutely nuts. He cuts out a pass with a first time backheel, which simultaneously wrong foots an Exeter player and plays in a teammate in a dangerous attacking position. The anticipation, awareness and skill are the sort of thing you'd expect to see in the World Cup, not in a 3rd tier fixture in Devon.

It's every single touch by every player.

It starts with that outrageous thing, I don't even know what to call it, by de Gevigney to Kane. But then Kane doesn't put his foot on it and slow the whole thing down, he lets the ball roll past him, turns, looks up, and wrong foots the defender by controlling the ball with one foot and passing it with the other... perfectly to McAtee.

McAtee controls it, he feints one way but goes the other, and rolls it out perfectly to Dodgson on the run.

Dodgson is looking at what the rest of our players are doing, he never looks at the ball, but he curls it in, still running at pace, first touch, into the only 6 inch by 6 inch space we could possibly score from.

That space is where McAtee's head is.

Or, more accurately, it's where McAtee's head will be when you calculate the trajectory of the ball and the time it will take to get to that space...
And the time McAtee's head will take to be in that space from his position 10 yards back when the ball is played.

And the ball does end up in that space, at the exact same time as McAtee's head ends up in that space...
And then the ball hits the back of the net like a bullet.

    It's just beautiful.

Just one of many “watch it again and again” goals that we’ve seen this season, and last. Makes me feel ashamed that I ever criticise any of our players. None of them are perfect but when you see bits of outrageously good team play like that you just KNOW why Barnsley is your team.

Just keep doing this lads and I promise I’ll never shout at you from my seat again…ever!

A bit gushy Jay, but right enough, a good goal.

Redolent of the sort of goal the 1996/7 side scored. We are winning without quite hitting our stride in games, except the first twenty minutes at Cambridge. Once we do we could monster this league.

Love the way that Kane points to where their defender is going to play the ball. From there on it's just cracking.

Have a few beers been taken there ehh, by some of our fans lol.
I do like these modern day fans Vlogs, the fans who make the effort to travel to most away games and film it, they really deserve respect. :)

This looks a bit familiar doesn't it, us winning 0-1 at Exeter, in the all white kit lol.
And wasn't Martin Tyler very high pitched in those days (season '80!).

    No probs. :)
I think that was a kit clash though as their shirts were more white than red. And did we ever have a 3rd choice kit in those days ?.
And for me, that wasn't a foul and pushing by Aylott. Its what most number 9 strikers did and mostly got away with isn't it, back then.

It wasn't a foul at all. It was a superb towering header by one of the best centre forwards we've ever had. Maybe the best.

Magical bit of skill by Glyn Riley too. We shouldn't have let him go. Clarkey got Derrick Parker in, and Derrick was a better player, and brilliant for us, but you need a third striker. Glyn was well capable of being that third striker. He scored huggins of goals for Bristol City after he left us.

We didn't have an official third kit. We usually played in black and white, if our red kit ever clashed. I imagine what we're wearing in this game is the white away top and the white shorts of the home kit, rather than the black shorts of the away kit.

I remember us playing in blue a couple of times, once away at Sheff Utd, but I don't remember the date of that match. I do remember when we played in blue at Blackpool. 25th April 1981. Four foot of snow in Barnsley. Woodhead shut. We went across on the M62, which was hairy, but we got over. Short sleeves and sunshine in Blackpool. Norman played Ronnie up front, for what I think was the only time Glavin played as a striker for us, in a bloody blue top, and he was crap. It didn't work, we lost 1-0, and there was a possibility we'd blown our chance of promotion. But three days later we beat Rotherham in front of 25,000 at Oakwell and won promotion, and on the Saturday beat Newport County 4-1 in an exhibition of football that was out of this world.

Pretty much the same team missed out on Promotion to the 1st division by one result 12 months later. We should have gone up. And the following year we wouldn't have been making up the numbers, we would have been challenging for Europe

Glyn Riley had a very attacking perm (curly hair) didn't he lol. He was just slightly before my time as a fan to be honest, because although that was the season when I started as a fan, I don't really remember him.
And as for the back-up strikers, wasn't Mike Lester also one of them.
I've heard stories about that game at Blacky when we could have clinched promotion, and it was snowing in April!!.
