Oh God that was grim as well. Nothing happened all game then that donkey Clive Platt bobbled one over the line in injury time. You've reminded me how utterly awful we were under Hill in the second half of that season, which wasn't entirely his fault given Vaz Te and Butterfield were sold from under him for pennies and Drinkwater went back to United (I think). Ipswich away losing 1-0, again nothing of note bar a scrappy goal, losing 2-0 at Southampton and being camped on the edge of our own box for 90 minutes. Picked a bad time to go to virtually every game!
Genuinely, one of the most exciting games I've seen us play. Obviously, first 20 minutes were pretty horrific but the second half... We didn't quite do it, so it will be forgotten, but we should have at least drawn and really should have won.
Far & away the most bizarre game of football I've ever seen. Wasn't remotely obvious what either team were actually trying to do.
Yup. Most depressed I've ever been at a footie match. Not only the performance (i forgot the actual 89 minutes before the goal after about 10 minutes) but i stayed over with my mate who lived in Cov at the time. Jesus that city is grim.
Away at Grimsby Boxing Day 1979. Absolutely freezing, the coldest I've ever been at a match, and we got tonked 3-0 into the bargain.
Was it this one, Barnsley v Millwall, 17 March 2018 - 11v11 match report I thought it was during the beast from the east but apparently it was a mini version shortly after. If I remember right we went a whole year unbeaten at home after this game. Special mention to Lincoln Papa Johns trophy game at home last season. 0-3. In the second half we made them look like prime Barcelona.
Yes, we were superb apart from that one game, think it was Dawson who got sent off earlier on and Kennedy towards the end. Was 6-0
I think all our bad luck and misfortune for that second half of the season was condensed into this game.
A defeat at Oldham on there astro turf where the weather as usual was freezing.Newcastle away when Varadi scored for them and it rained that hard and heavy took me 2 days to dry out.Heckys last game at QPR,even as a "happy clapper to some" it was of the most dire performences I can recall.
1. Losing 1-0 at home to Carlisle under Viv Anderson, truly made me question my existence. 2. Drawing 2-2 with Ipswich at home when we were 2 nil up on 90th minute. 3. losing 5-0 at home to Birmingham probably under mad Mel.
IIRC that 0-5 to Birmingham was early season after a great start and we were top of the league or thereabouts. Ipswich was 3-0 up with about 8-9 minutes of normal time left. Then David Watson took some hallucogenics and forgot how to be a goalkeeper.
Forgot this one, Newcastle beating us 5-0 at Oakwell Also Forest 5-2 Reds the night we crowd surfed the Preedy/Cryne flag.
We lost 2-1 against Northampton and Mike Flynn gifted them the winner Think we lost 1-0 against Mansfield just before xmas in equally as bad a game, not sure if they were down to 10 men but it sounds like the kind of thing we'd have done that season
