Newcastle away when they were in championship. We lost 6-1. Ref had a stinker sending Steele off for a blatant dive but we were horrendous and got ripped apart. Albeit by a good side.

Watford home when they stuffed us 5-1. Made worse by having my Watford supporting mate sat next to me who I'd brought along from uni.

Home to Burton in Morais' first game in charge. Absolutely dreadful.

When we lost 3-1 at Marine, FA Cup 1st Round, November 1975. We were also bottom of the entire Football League and on our way home over the Pennines, I was convinced Jim Iley would finally be sacked.

I'm going to go with two games that not many others will pick but there are reasons.

1-1 v Spurs. Pretty much confirmed relegation for me. Yes there were still fixtures to play that could have got us over the line but coupled with the result against Liverpool a couple of games earlier it felt like the FA and football in general had managed to put us back in our place.

Which kind of leads on to

0-1 v Wednesday at Wembley. Beat them home and away. Cruised through our play off to the final. Far too many people thought we'd beat them a third time. Not me, I always felt we'd beaten them twice a third was unlikely and the massives did their thing to put us back in our place.

There have been worse results in terms of score or performance. There have been worse matches in terms of weather conditions. But those two have more of a mental scar to them.

Too many in old 4th division to remember...but recently reds v Wycome ( under Val) took some beating....technically the worst match I've seen for a long time. Two teams just belting the ball 60 yards on the first bounce from defence without looking....just dreadful.....at least we won though!

Had been out clubbing for New Year in Sheffield. Either Gatecrasher or Po-na-na. Can't remember which, but it was an absolute belter. Could have stayed in bed for most of the day then gone to the pub with my mates. What the actual fck possessed me, my brother and our mate who supports Grimsby to go to that match I'll never know.

I remember going with my ex wife to see us play Blackburn away. 1989. 5-0 down at half time. That would be up there...

No mentions yet for the 6-1 thumping at Grimsby about 20 years ago. Freezing cold, snowing, Rankins celebration, massive scrap as people tried to leave at half time when it was 4 or 5-0. What a time to be alive that was.........

Round about 1990, working down south so trekked to midweek came at Swindon with some Swindon fans I knew when they were on the up. About 30 reds turned up, rained all night, we lost 3-0 without mustering a shot on goal. when we brought the sub on, Julian broddle, his name and his mullet were met with howls of derision by the Swindon fans.

Most undeserved victory we've ever had celebrated by a bunch of neanderthals who ran on the pitch to congratulate a woefully underperforming team who the neanderthals had subjected to dogs abuse for the previous 85 minutes. All irony was lost in celebrating beating a non-league side, who comprehensively outplayed us, like we'd won the cup, and then they proceeded to smash the homes, cars and businesses of the local residents as they made their way out of the ground and to their transport home.

Disgusting behaviour. Very nearly made me stop going. And to cap it off, a poor old lad died of a heart attack in the stand. A real low, not just in watching Barnsley but in my life.

Barnsley 0-1 Watford in December 2000. The coldest I can remember being at a match and a very drab game. Awful.

Preston away boxing day 2015. Just awful. And freezing.

Millwall away when Wiseman scored an own goal. Maybe 2014?

Early 90's home to Plymouth lost 1-3 and a kid called Dwight Marshall scored a hat trick in about 15 minutes.
    Altrincham away of course

This has triggered a memory as my dad's mate went and said there was trouble with stewards... what happened as I can remember a photo of it being in the chronicle the week after. I was at another game that day with a friend and saw we were 5-1 down at half time and couldn't believe it.
