Yea that was me, still owes me for the glasses. I was like Jack Duckworth with glasses taped up until I bought new ones
Another aspect is location. I worked for a company that was a multi city/ town business. If you showed an interest in relocating you were encouraged by the company to go and check out the area before committing to the move.
If you'd have had decent specs on int first place. Tha'd av sin it comin Andy. And headed the bugger. As for lita. 22 clubs in 21 yrs. (Including a few loans) sez it all.
Treacy was too. He’s done interviews in recent times about how he had to get back to Ireland & was feeling suicidal. Jennings had a few good games towards the back end of the relegation season & I genuinely thought him & Treacy would take league one by storm
I’d imagine his mentality played a part too. For whatever reason, injuries, dedication etc, something was stopping him been the player he was in his prime at Reading. If he was playing well & popular in Barnsley I’d guarantee he’d have a lot different feelings about the area. If you ask any of Ritchie’s side that were regularly out in town what they thought about the town when it was just as run down as it was when Lita was here I’d guarantee they’d have different views.
There was a lot of stuff going on with Treacy, he was a right mess when he was with us Keith Treacy on the alcohol addiction that ended his career at 26 and wanting to help others avoid his mistakes | Football News | Sky Sports
You have to wonder why drug/alcohol testing isn't part of the recruitment medical process. There is a lot of money riding on transfers - with wages, transfer fees, etc. - and signing someone with an addiction could be a major problem for the club.
This was the time when cryne wanted to use the data analysts model (or spreadsheet) to sign young players under 25, Wilson wanted experience so they compromised and Wilson brought in the experience of lita, turnbull and Treacy.
At least you can be reassured that he wasn’t aiming for you, cos if he was aiming for you he’d have missed your specs by about 3 yards.
Cracking interview that. Just shows some sort of negativity in personal lives can affect anybody. I remember him coming on at Chesterfield and having a massive impact then thinking ‘here we go’. Obviously nothing happened from then on. In regard to Lita, it was definitely a case of him not being arsed rather than being good enough. There were little parts of games at the start of him being here where he had a little bit of quality but we were probably his best financial offer at the time we signed him. We had some right shower that season.
