My friends girls team in Wakefield are trying to raise money towards a new kit. Would the club offer a couple of tickets or a signed match ball to raffle off would anyone know? Either from the men’s or women’s teams Thanks
Years ago (Don Rowing era) I asked all the local clubs for any type of contribution to a Huntingdon's Disease charity which a girl at work suffered from and for which she was organising a charity raffle. I got two tickets from Wednesday, United, Rotherham and Donny Rovers but the Don went to the trouble of replying personally stating that BFC get inundated with this type of request and therefore would only contribute if it was a local charity. With 12,000 empty seats at Oakwell I thought it would have been simpler just to stick two tickets to any cat C match but the Don wanted to live up to his name. Suffice to say that I went through the back door and had a word with Ronnie Branson when he ran the Academy and he got me a signed football to auction off. Different regime now so I'd just write in and ask the question. Include a stamped addressed envelope so it doesn't cost the club anything bar two bits of printed paper. Good luck.
I work for a not for profit organisation. We wrote to the club last season asking if they'd be kind enough to make a contribution towards our summer fayre raffle, and they sent us a voucher for 2 tickets to be used for any league home game last season.
There's a charity request form here https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/charity-requests/ I'd try that in the first instance. I believe due to the large number of requests they have a monthly draw.
They do get inundated to be fair but these days there's a process in place for that and I linked in response to the OT. Even the Trust get some pretty frequent and more often than not dubious requests for signed kit etc. Often it's overseas people who are just trying to get their hands on signed goods to then put on eBay. Obviously they are spoiling it for genuine charities and causes to a certain degree.
I agree on the signed merchandise but a couple of tickets cost nothing and even if there were a few dubious ones it still wouldn't cost the club anything. Better to have the goodwill gesture in the first place. When I asked the local clubs, Barnsley were the only ones to refuse which didn't really put them.in a good light.
