It was weird. Had we been 7-8 up it wouldn't have been an unfair reflection of the game. That's how one-sided it was. It was like a training game for most of the second half. I still can't quite believe it to this day that they escaped with a draw, although once the second one went in, it seemed pretty much inevitable.
Barnsley 0 Sheffield Wednesday 3, christmas time under Simon Davey, seeing their fans doing the stupid bounce, had to leave early.
Earliest I've left a game this one. If memory serves me Davey got the job permanently day after this game.
I was at Uni at the time and brought a friend to that Ipswich game. He came to two other Barnsley games (sort of). Stoke away, which was going ahead when we set off but was called off at some point on our journey over to Stoke. I didn't have a radio in my beaten up old Fiesta so we only realised something was amiss when we drove all the way up to the ground without spotting a fan of either team. Middlesbrough away. The infamous white trainers and frozen pitch game. Called off at half time. Ipswich was the last straw, he was clearly a jinx and I never invited him again.
