Im prepared mate. Went to Tesco for essentials. 15 tins of Tennent’s. Won’t be leaving the house anytime soon. Weather is horrendous and set to get worse overnight. I decided last night not to go to Partick on Saturday but it’s probable all games will be off.
I saw on the news that Dundee has an average annual rainfall of 778mm and they are expecting 200mm in one day. That's heavy duty. Over a quarter of the years rainfall in one hit. Batten down the hatches.
We are on a week's break in North Wales and have been remarkably lucky with the weather - only rain was from 7pm through to 4am last night when we were already back indoors with our feet up. But I am expecting the drive home tomorrow to be pretty grim.
For all prospective house buyers. Try not to buy one close to a shitworks or river. Generally both at the lowest point in the area. Seek out one nearer a clean (drinking) water reservoir. At top o' the hill. Having a river view is nice. But not when it's inside yer house.
Good luck Ian and all those in the area. I've seen many a flood. And been involved in working to try prevent more damage than necessary so to speak. But I was there when Dumfries was flooding and that was the worst I've ever seen. We were going to Glasgow from Moffat when all the reports on tv showed streets flooding. So headed to Dumfries thinking it would escape the brunt of it. How wrong we were. A sorry sight from the bridge. Houses completely submerged. And the river raging through the town.
Still wild out there as we speak. Gusting wind and driving rain. I’m fine in the house and not near any water and at the bottom of any hill. Thankfully.
