Not everywhere. Seems a bit random this year. My daughter's on holiday now (Lincolnshire) but I've got friends and colleagues in Sheffield and Leeds who are off next week.
An amusing bit of commentary last night (which I'm sure wasn't intended) 'The reds fans are making some noise getting right behind the team' Shame it was the ripper song, swiftly followed by the stadium announcement.
even more confusing it’s half term in Rotherham, Sheffield and Donny but not Barnsley. I got confused on Monday and Cerys got a bonus day off. It was only when we were coming back from the shops passing kids in uniform that it clicked.
That ripper song is appalling. Closest I ever got to having a scrap at a match, was an altercation I had with a bloke who had a ripper badge on.
Assuming from that your surname is Baker, then your mother had a hit single dedicated to her. I presume she was "the meanest cat in old Chicago town"...?
Nope, as well as the "We are the Baker Fan Club" song, The Baker Fan Club serenaded me every match with a song of my very own. Not particularly complimentary like, but I got a rendition every week until we let Clive go, which kind of made the club redundant I suppose. I wonder if they transferred to Ipswich with him.
Probably got lost in his year at Coventry when he didn't play - he left us for Cov, then went to Ipswich for his final 48 games.
Only ever heard the ripper song at away games. Thought the announcement was for the "I bought a flute for 50 pence" song
I'd completely forgotten he'd gone there. Mad Mel - Futcher and Baker are too old and no longer good enough to play for Barnsley. Top evaluation there Mel, well done.
I thought that Mel generally did a brilliant job for us, but binning off Futcher was madness, especially bearing in mind his obsession with centre halves and defenders in general. It wasn't like Mel played just youth in that position either. Mal Shotton and Mark Smith were in the twilight of their careers. Excellent players, both of them, but not anywhere near Futcher's level. Let's be honest though, who was?
Machin was a manager of two halves. Saving us from relegation then getting us to within a point of the play-offs (91?) were great, but then he lost the plot and started playing teams full of centre halves.
Another victory. Another three points. Another clean sheet. A very comfortable win for me. Excellent first half performance, totally in control for the second. Two superb team goals and a penalty. A PENALTY!!! I still don't believe we've got anywhere near our best, but there's obvious gradual improvement. We've still to see the return of Connell, or the best of Phillps & Cosgrove. I'm one happy Happy Clapper. Also, Devante Cole was my MOTM.
