Plenty of people on this forum saw Watters play last season And heaped praise on the club for signing him Did you think he'd magically turn good or summat? Great win last night by the way!
Do you really believe that? 2 in 14 so far (1 in 7), so you reckon 13 in the next 32 (1 every 2.5 games), that's some rapid improvement.
His goal scoring record is very good in fairness. You’d expect it to right itself at some point though maybe not to that extent. . We could say the same about McAtee who has a much worse record pre us
I'm going on what I've seen this season, devante Cole got a assist for kanes 25 yard hit v Orient some of watters assists have been similar I remember him getting one for passing the ball backwards to nick cadden who took two players on and smashed it in the top corner. I'll go off what I've seen so far been largely disappointing but a good assist last night and performance.
That’s the spirit. He did well when he came on last night. Good assist. He had little to no service at Orient. As it stands, I’d play McAtee ahead of him, but we’re not going to get the best out of Watters if fans are continually on his back.
I posted a few weeks back that Cole needs a partner who he can build a rapport with, chopping and changing won't build an understanding, My view is whichever the Boss choses they will improve from playing more regularly with Cole and their goals per game will improve.
Many said the same about Devante this time last year. Watters has scored one in two at this level before. He clearly looks a little low on confidence, but it wouldn't be a miracle for him to score goals consistently at this level as he has done before in his career.
He scored a goal a game over a 12 game period for Crawley in L2, 3 years ago, which earnt him his million pound move to Cardiff, not done much consistently since. I have hope, but he can't claim he hasn't been given his chance, he's had more than any other of our strikers, with little to show for it.
