AIDEN MARSH YORK STAY EXTENDED Club News Aiden Marsh sees his stay with York City extended for another month following his move in September. Continue reading on the official site...
Must be a reason he his not playing, he can’t be looking good in training and such.....hope I am proved wrong but I don’t think Marsh will cut it back at oakwell, I know he his a local lad and we all want them to do well but I don’t think he has what it takes, just my opinion and would love to be proved wrong
Think I tend to agree. Been shipped out on loan a few times now and if he isn’t in the match day squad now ahead of Watters, I think it’s only a matter of time before he goes. Shame like.
Whenever he's played for us (I don't care about other teams) he's shown far far more than watters, Cosgrove and McAtee so it's really frustrating to see him farmed out while they are given chance after chance.
Don't understand extending the loan if he's not starting - from York's point of view, ours and Aiden's.
Some were saying on here recently, that the York fans haven't been too impressed with Marsh. Well he must be doing something right, if they want to keep him a bit longer.
How can people still berate McAtee this much? People literally moaned about him 'diving in to tackle' but the amount of times we've won possession or he's saved us from a counter is impressive. He was excellent yesterday for large parts of the game. We moan about Watters being static and not pressing enough but then moan when it's the other way around. He links play up well, runs with the ball, good dribbler, direct, decent pace, good passer of the ball. He needs to work on his finishing when he has more than a second to think about where he's placing his shot, but other than that I don't know what people want. We are in league one.
May not be ‘local’ - but aren’t all these arguments equally true of other academy products? Have we got a pathway for Fabio Jalo?
I thought McAtee was decent last night. Technically a very gifted footballer who often shows glimpses of brilliance, but then gets the basics wrong. I guess that's why he's playing in league 1. I also thought Watters made an impact last night too when he came on, ran the channels well, and put the graft in when we went to 1 up front. As much as it pains me to say it, I've not seen much of Marsh that makes me think he'll be a regular at this level. He certainly seems much more comfortable when playing in the cup competitions against weakened sides, though his record in the u21s is certainly encouraging. It's worrying though that he's struggling to nail down a place for York.
I see Marsh as a bit like Danny Rose. He will probably have a decent lower league career. Not sure it’ll be with us but I’m ever hopeful.
I could perhaps understand the constant criticism on players/management if we weren't where we are. But we are where we are and it's relentless. I think Kane slows things down too often, especially when in Russell's position, and I think Cotter isn't reliable enough defensively, or consistent enough offensively - but I don't bring it up every week, and I certainly praise them when they do play well. I don't get why people give players flak despite good performances. Every single player in our squad could improve, we are in league one
