Evening All. I trust everyone is keeping well. After a few days of consulting with various different parties, we have just published the below regarding the FA Cup home game against Horsham being moved to a Friday night. https://bfcst.co.uk/update-from-bfcst-on-horsham-fa-cup-tie/
I think the last sentence sums it up nicely. Not an ounce of consideration for the supporters anywhere in that decision making process. It seems that BFC are as culpable as all the various authorities in going for the Friday. I know it will be considered by some to be inappropriate but I don't understand our reluctance to go for Sunday, based on the fact that the women's team have a game planned for that date. If there was any possibility of moving that game to make way for the cup game then it should have been done. While we are all supportive of the clubs efforts to get a women's team off the ground, it has got to be fair comment that the need to get an FA Cup game which means so much to the opposition played on a reasonable date outweighs the need to stick to the original date for a bog standard women's fixture of no particular significance which will be played out in front of a few dozen spectators. For me, the club have fked up here on a scale similar to the Liverpool ticket fiasco. This is an awful outcome and they should be bloody ashamed of their part in it.
We’re led to believe Doncaster were reluctant to move to the Sunday due to their Football League Trophy game on Tuesday 7th November This bit doesn't make sense to me? Surely Doncaster moving to the Friday then would give them a greater recovery period ?
Thanks for looking into it Loko. It is a terrible decision - and the silence from the club confirms they bloody know it as well.
Bravo. It’s an awful decision, and it doesn’t feel like we have done enough to do the right thing and get it moved.
Thought when there was a clash they would have just played on the training ground? No surprise really and considering the club have once again gone silent on the issue. Off the pitch it seems a little rudderless at the moment.
That's pretty poor on the powers that be, a chance to put their side across but choose to remain silent
Spennymoor seem surprised and pleased that it’s on the main page. It definitely came as a surprise to them days after the Horsham match had already been decided.
Looks like BFC have rolled over to have their belly tickled. I will be leading a political protest that night somewhere anyway.
You can’t play both at the stadium on the same day, without a good few hour break in between - there isn’t the room or segregation for it. That’s always been the case for junior and academy football on a Matchday.
They probably didn't want to move to a Friday because it would inconvenience fans of both clubs. Us on the other hand seemingly don't give a *****
As an advocate of Women’s football, even I am bemused by the Club’s approach. The fact is that it is unrealistic that the Women’s team can expect to play on the main pitch with any regularity. Why this Sunday in particular? Shambolic planning. I applaud the raise in profile, but there is a missed opportunity here for the club to play the Women’s game on the Sunday on academy pitches prior to the FA Cup tie and allow free/ reduced entry to fans with tickets for the Horsham game. Everybody wins - the Women’s team get more spectators, the fans get two games on a Sunday, and Horsham get their day out. Absolutely lazy by BFC - the fact that Donny have got their way just sums it up. I’ve gone back to disillusioned with our club. The anonymous Khaled will no doubt take about 6 weeks to come up with something. Have we had the “big news” yet by the way?
Doncaster were reluctant to move to the Sunday...........but have moved to the Sunday, this is starting to smell of a certain someone digging their heals in. Sounds like we've shafted Horsham and Donny so we can get the Women's game on at oakwell, if that's the case it's poor forward planning. Gauranteed if our game V Horsham had been picked for a Sunday TV game the powers that be would have moved heaven and earth
