Every game that isn't selected for live TV is automatically given a default start time of 3pm on the Saturday afternoon under competition rules.

Yes. That's kind of the problem.

No they don't, some games get allocated to Sunday and not on television. Fixtures to be played on the weekend of 3rd/4th/5th November.

Sorry mate but it is absolutely the case. I've quoted you the rules from the competition rule book.

FA Cup rule 68 - "In the Competition Proper, where the date fixed for playing the round of Competition Matches is a weekend date, the default date is the Saturday;"

They use the 3/4/5 thing to cover the period until they've decided the live TV games. You will find that this next weekend, every other game (except ours) that is not at 3pm Saturday is on live TV (5 in the UK, 2 international and 1 on S4C).

Considering the clocks go back, and it’s bonfire night on Sunday, then perhaps they thought Friday was easier for fans (or at least home fans). Having an afternoon game on, then getting home and going out again to a bonfire would also put people off.

The club, whilst should try to be considerate to away fans as well, should always put Home fans first. Every other club does.

Yup, this is the financial game they have to play for every early cup game at Oakwell. It’s often better to have these early games away in terms of finance.

And, don’t forget 20% VAT has to come off all your figures as well….. actual ticket prices are £8.33 for an adult.

No imo. The fans are doing that. Since it became devalued. The costs probably outweigh opening a stand unnecessarily. It has been said, other areas will be opened if demand exceeds availability. And maybe the obvious one would be a north stand split. ?

You mean like how they make everyone wait in the car park for ages after the final whistle, thus massively inconveniencing them - whilst away fans are allowed to leave.

That kind of putting home fans first?

I honestly think that only opening the ESL will put hundreds off. If they’d opened the full stand I reckon we might have sold about 4k even though it’s a Friday night. If it’s a wet night the first half dozen rows at least will get a soaking. I can honestly see us selling less than 3k now.
It’s bad enough playing it on a Friday with no regards to opposition fans but opening half a stand is indefensible. We call out other clubs for their treatment of fans but it seems we’re as bad as anybody.

Are there reasons why the club would prefer it played on Friday night?

I get that mate. But imo the demise of the fa cup is the biggest reason of falling attendances. This situation hasn't helped but it's not the main reason for me. I fekkin hate the greed league. And all it stands for.
I honestly can't remember the last final I watched. (Was a wonderful competion in the day) Would have been us if we'd have beat Cardiff.

A can’t believe the over reaction about a game, if you want to go, go, and if not don’t, it’s quite simple!!!

A feel a tad for Horsham fans but it’s no different when we play likes of Exeter on a Tuesday night…….

There really is more in life to wobble your tits about than a game being played on a Friday night

What is your opinion on our CEOs conduct regarding the matter? That's what people are complaining about largely. That nobody from bfc will even offer an explanation. They've basically told the supporters trust to do one and read the website.

It needs to be remembered that SYP, both sets of fans and both clubs cannot insist that a precedent be set based upon the sentimental notion of the dreams and wishes of a minor league team playing a much bigger club in the FA Cup.

Maybe there have been judgemental calls here that are questionable, in terms of what other options were available., and indeed why it couldn't go ahead on Saturday.

But one of the factors taken into consideration ought not to have been the premise that this match is Horsham's big day out.

You're right but regardless of all that the wall of silence that supporters and the supporters trust have been met with by bfc is inexcusable yet we have people on here criticising fans for being pissed off about it
