Exactly this. I also think that, assuming they don't know more than we do, their coaches criticism of BFC is way over the top and unnecessary. Numpty.
Best scenario fir Horsham would be take us to replay then possibly get TV. Only as well gate receipts
https://www.sussexexpress.co.uk/spo...e-police-following-fa-cup-date-switch-4386345 I agree with every word their coach has said. Our club has shafted their club, their fans, but most imortantly it's own fans and hasn't made the slightest effort to explain why.
We haven't though have we? Clearly everyone's preferred option is 3pm Sat. That can't happen for everyone due to be at home that day. We haven't specifically asked for Friday night without prompting have we? Presumably we have been asked to move to Friday or Sunday and accepted to get in good books with the ongoing investigation and weekly sectarian chanting issues. Friday for whatever reason works best for us. Do I feel sorry for Horsham? Absolutely. Do I think the decision has been taken with BFC best interests at heart? Absolutely. Bigger fights possibly looming and a decision which affects maybe 5-600 Horsham fans has probably been seen as a sensible option (how many would have travelled on a Sunday? How many players work shifts and impacted more by a sunday than Friday match? (IDK). Clearly not ideal. But shafted? No chance......
give over, massive overreaction never wanted us to lose ever, closest I've ever got is apathy in one of the tinpot competitions. However I do find the silence and inaction from our club totally embarrassing, lets not forget as much as it is a problem for Horsham and their fans . its also inconveniencing a lot of our fans with it being on a Friday night. That's not even without compounding it by our fans being forced to sit in the open seats of the ESL. SO far the only statement from our club seems to be ...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
We should put our best team out,try and get a few goals, then make a few changes and let the fringe players have a go.
If it does go to a replay, on a midweek night, maybe our board will then appreciate the inconvenience they have put the Horsham fans through.
I'll say it again though whatever we have done will be in our best interests, unfortunately for Horsham. Say we get to round 3 and draw Brighton away. Big game, new ground for a lot. Can't be played Sat 3pm as Sussex police can't cope. Do you honestly think they would give any consideration to us when scheduling? If Friday night suited them better that's when it would be played. And rightly so - it's their game. When drawn for rd1 the parameters are Friday 3rd-Monday 6th Nov. We can't play Sat 3pm so have gone for next best option for our team in the boards opinion. Yes it's crap, yes I would be gutted if I were a Horsham fan but to keep beating the club up about it seems very OTT. I love the magic of the cup but, when Sat 3pm option goes out the window decisions have to be taken.
Our board? There’s me thinking it was primarily down to the SYP and the FA. Is it our boards fault that SYP can’t cope with 4 matches on the same afternoon?
That's where I'm at. I want us to win, either batter them or in a real battle, so the game is exciting, but also would like them to enjoy being in Barnsley. We've kind of scuppered the last bit of that.
A good old fashioned end to end cup tie with some goals, or an awful scrap with no action and one dodgy goal. But either way, I want us to WIN it!.
No but it's the fault of the board they haven't given any support to Horsham. We should have stood with them.
The day that we have to deliberately schedule a match against a team of part-time players 5 divisions below us at such a time so that most of their fans and one or two of their players can no longer attend, just so we can get an ‘edge’ to help us progress in the competition is the day that I decide supporting Barnsley Football Club no longer represents my values and is no longer the club for me. Thankfully, I think you are talking absolute codswallop, so that isn’t a decision I have to make just yet.
It's a view I guess. Not what I am saying however. Sat 3pm? No can do thanks to SYP. Massive game at Derby following Saturday. Play Friday not Sunday gives 2 days more rest plus normal week schedule leading up to the game appreciating may well be little overlap in the two squads. 100% about benefitting us than hampering Horsham. And as I've said, boot on other foot no-one considers Barnsley fans. I sympathise massively with them but when SYP rule out Sat 3pm. Agree to disagree I guess.....
