Despite having form for being one of the less whistle happy refs, Neil Hair kept himself busy yesterday.
Was in danger of losing control at one point - he let far too many late challenger / challenges from behind go unpunished.
I’ve gin him a five, well he did award us a penalty when all said and done. Yeah an average five for an average performance.
For giving us our now customary penalty I gave him a 1. No more though because of a string of poor decisions and never consulting the linesman on the ES side who MUST have seen several assaults on our players but was too afraid to put his flag up
2/10, as 'positional sense' & 'time management' were shocking. We had a minimum of 10 minutes additional time, but he stopped the game 10 seconds short of that, with disregard for the time wasting that was clear to see in the 9mins 50secs previous. Bare minimum was 11mins & a decent ref would have given us 2 extra minutes to bring in the 3 points..
I thought our penalty decision was soft, I thought the foul for their second goal was soft. He was inconsistent with his bookings. The one Kane received was nowhere near as bad as the one on Kane in the first half, which went unpunished. I thought he took a very relaxed approach to Fleetwood's time wasting, and then didn't add any additional time on to the end of injury time, when it took them over a minute to take 2 throw ins.
And absolutely nothing for the elbow to McCart by Stockley - clear red & he had an excellent view of it
I’ve given a generous 2. Some ‘tasty challenges’ left unpunished especially the assault on McCart, both ref and linesman had good views on that and did nothing. Also, the ending the game short. My watch and stadium clock still had remaining seconds left, and absolutely nothing added for the time wasting within the added time. He held up his watch hand a few times to them so where was the added time? Poor and inconsistent.
Usual Thread spoiler/s no doubt, and cowards in that they won’t post why they thought so highly of the ref/s performance, particularly on the McCart incident
I said he didn’t consult the linesman, at least not obviously so by going over and having a proper decision about one of two incidents. A bigger problem though seemed to be his unwillingness to send Marriott off. Following a booking he continued fouling and diving for the rest of the match but somehow this idiot didn’t seem to notice.
I agree. But claiming they never consulted because he didn't see them standing together having a chat is just silly
