    Expected to play on monday for 45 mins for the U21's. At Wigan. And roughly 2 weeks away from the first team. Chronicle reports after speaking to Collins.

    Great we can ease him back in slowly, with decent midfield options in place at the moment. He will be vital for a promotion push though, he's a class above what we have at the moment, with the possible exception of Styles, who I think we could lose in January. I think his international status will ramp up the interest.

    It was never intended to give him more than 45 minutes. And the scoreline means nowt tbh. More to do with his fitness level.

    He was only ever going to play 45 minutes. Collins said this late last week. The scoreline is irrelevant. The fact we had an unfit CDM on the field will have been one rarther large factor, but it was expected.

    Just glad he's back kicking a ball in anger, despite his age, he's absolutely vital to how we play. Having Connell at CDM means we can play two more midfielders in a much higher position than we currently are doing.

    I thought the only results that don't count are those by the first team when we win (eg. 7-0 against Port Vale, 2-0 at Wigan)!!!

    If anyone remembers these games, they were called playing for the stiffs or the Reserves.
    Stiffs the term for players coming back from injury ,easing themselves back into team football.
    Academy teams now takes away the term getting players back into first team football.
    As far as I see them their training games.
    Very rewarding seeing the 18s training games reaping the rewards with so many potential new players ,where we struggled with the reserves to produce these.

    I can remember going to a few so called ‘stiff’ matches….one in particular when a young David Hirst was playing for us against Liverpool stiffs ….they had half a dozen full internationals playing that night if I remember right
