That's one of my other problems. My house is weirdly positioned so it would need quite a bit for the front door to be easily seen. The amount of delivery drivers I've had phone me up before unable to find my house whe. They've found both houses either side is ridiculous. In the past I've had the following conversation Driver: hi I'm delivering to number 26 but can't find it. Me: ok where are you? Driver: number 28. Me: I'm next door Driver: I can't find it, I've gone next door and it's number 24. Me: I'm between them. I'm literally joined on to 24. Them: I can't find that. I've found 22. Me: yeah it's the other way. Between 24 and 28. It's the door with bright line green car on the drive Them: I can't see that Me: *walks outside and finds driver stood next to my bright green car staring blankly at my door with the house number on it* Note: I don't live at 26 or drive a green car
On a positive note, I took my nearly 3 year old daughter into Barnsley town centre today as TGI’s are doing free kids meals during half term. Saw a couple of kids with their faces painted, so I asked their mum where they had got that done as Mabel would love that. Turns out they had free pumpkin carving and professional face painting upstairs in the market, so we went and had a ghost painted on her face to match her costume. She was over the moon with it and the ladies were terrific with her. Well done to Barnsley council for arranging that. It’s great when things like that are free too, I’d have paid for it anyway but not everyone can/will pay for something like that. It’s only a small thing but for a young kid it means the world and her smile was beaming for the rest of the afternoon. It did cause us a problem before bed though, she was not happy that it had to come off but I let her mum cop for that one
The solution to that (on Halloween) is a pumpkin at the end of your drive. The solution on a normal day is maybe a numbered plague on the edge of a post of something, or a wheelie bin with the number on left nearby.
Excellent! There was a free ‘scare trail’ at Golden Acre Park in Leeds over the weekend and it was extremely popular and everyone was having a lovely time. I so appreciate kind people who give up their time to do things like that.
We did a lot better after borrowing the pumpkin. Kids are weird though, we had some lollies and other typical cheap sweets in one bowl and full size chocolate bars in the other. I told one group of kids they could have one from each bowl and, after umming and ahhing over choosing for a bit, they asked if they could have two from the sweet bowl. Who chooses a drumstick lolly over a mars bar or twirl (other types of choc bars were in there too)?

Only in my belly. If I knew more people would arrive I’d do warm food like hot dogs. Always loved the houses that did that growing up.
You want to come to Birdwell. For some reason we seem to be a tourist attraction on the Ben Bailey Estate. Hundreds, yes hundreds of kids come, cars blocking the estate, residents can't get in or out, drives blocked etc. Sweet wrappers all over the shop. Getting on our nerves now, we go to the pub out the way, but a serious accident is going to happen one year. Why people actually get in a car and drive to a housing estate in Birdwell is absolutely beyond me. Really sad if that's the best parents can think of. People who did join in got abused when they ran out of sweets too.
