Would’ve been a fantastic signing for us on a free. Never mind we got Watters in instead….

Only cost 250k I think, not sure how many sides were in for him but that was always going to be a steal of a price.

Jordan Rhodes would have been a great signing too. In fact, as he’s only on loan, we could nip in and nick him off Blackpool, like what Leicester did to us with Drinkwater. He doesn’t fit our profile, but I guess our board needs to ask itself ‘do we want an old striker with no resale value who’ll score the goals to get us promoted, or shall we stick with the donkeys who would have resale value if they weren’t so *****’

Cole is 29 in may.. and your right cos he'll be moved on in Jan.. or walk at EoS.. Even with promotion I wouldn't have thought we could give him the kind of deal he'd be looking for..

Devante has been absolutely brilliant the last couple of seasons, but I'm still not sure I'd back him to score regularly in the Championship. He's had opportunities at that level before and never taken them.

I’m not so sure he’s been brilliant the last couple of seasons, he’s proving me wrong a bit this and I know he was top scorer last season but his all round play was very poor, that has improved this season but we’ve lost better before a lot lot better and coped.

Yep and more to the point other clubs will offer him more money

this is his last chance to get a lucrative contract , which he will need to take

I stick with what I’ve said in other posts , anything over £1.5 m and he will be gone I think. At age 29 that would seem logical given our model

No way will we get anything close to £1.5m for Cole. He’ll have only 6 months left on his contract and will be 29 when it ends. £500k tops in January I reckon.
For that reason I’d just let him run down his contract. Be impossible to replace him mid season anyway.

He's definitely at his peak right now. I'm pretty sure that Cosgrove and Watters have the potential to be better players, but potential doesn't usually get you promoted. If Cole is still banging them in in January, then selling him for £500k would be nuts. £1.5 million would make a lot more sense, although personally I think that we'll still score goals without him.

However, in January we'll hold all the cards. We don't need to sell, and promotion is worth more to us than any transfer fee we're likely to receive. Add that to the fact that prices tend to be inflated in January as it's a time when teams make panic buys, then I can easily see someone coming in with a silly offer for him. If not then he stays put until the summer.

I see where your coming from ,I agree as a fan wanting promotion, and as a coach wanting your best 11 on the field.
But from a buiseness sense which is what BFC are, will they risk 500k to go for broke.
I'm not sure they will, but will be pleasantly surprised if they hang on to him.
From Coles position, he couldn't care less if he ain't up to scratch to play at championship level.
At 29 it's his last chance to get his pay check before retirement in the next 5 or 6 years.
He as never had a better opportunity than at this present time ,top goal scorer ,should be on 15 come January.
    Hope I'm wrong.

I’m not sure I can see anyone taking a punt until he’s a free transfer next summer. He’s proven to be useful only a couple of seasons in his career and can’t see many paying a fee for him. Screams someone like Coventry or Swansea (because of the obvious connections) other than teams with a short term ambition of the Prem, like Middlesbrough.

Wouldn’t be too fussed if Cole went in January, im expecting him to, might aswell get something for him. He’s certainly not good enough at Championship level.

If he helps us get promoted he's worth 7-10 million to the club, doubt if we will get a quarter of that for him.

Morris was a similar situation but he went for whatever reason.

Arguably one of the best strikers in this league for the past few seasons along with Clarke-Harris at Peterborough. I’ve said for past 2 years we should’ve signed May, he would’ve been extra fire power we would’ve needed to get outta this league last season and this season… powers that be went for Watters instead for a lot more fcking money anorl!

I can't see why we aren't starting with Cosgrove and Cole.
