The teams doing well and picking up points.Leading scorers in our division, defence top 3 or 4, players to come back and strengthen the team/squad. Why can't all this be enjoyed instead of looking for something negative. Personally I'm enjoying the season so far and I believe theres more to come from this team. I confidently predict top 6 but it would be no suprise to see us make top 2.
I think it down to the fact the football we play is rather boring. This isn’t a problem for me but if you are going to do this you have got to be winning games, otherwise you will come under criticism. lack of imagination of getting the next generation into the club, tickets for this fa cup game should of been given out to all the local schools etc the board are trying just don’t think Khalid is the right bloke to man manage the of field stuff.
On the pitch we will always have ups and downs, I still think we are yet to find our top gear pretty much work in progress, I accept that, I accept players and managers come and go. Off the pitch we are so amateurish it's eye watering, there are clubs lower down the pyramid than us far more in tune with their fanbase and absolutely tonk all over us
Last season Oakwell was rocking and we had 3 or 4 sell outs under the same staff didn't we? I agree we have made some mistakes over the summer regarding the kit and recently with the FA cup ticketing but you've got a short memory if you can't remember how well we did on and off the field last season.
I still think we failed on the field but that's just the type of guy I am. Nothing derogatory about that statement.
Apart from a handful of games towards the back end of last season, I'd hardly say Oakwell was rocking. There was a bit of an atmosphere boost after' scarf day', but I guess that was down to big results against Derby, Wednesday Portsmouth and Plymouth.
Because the CEO is treating supporters appallingly and it is creating a lot of ill feeling in the fanbase. That's not the only reason but it's a big big reason and it is harming the club we love.
Absolutely no negativity from me regarding the football. Collins has made a very good start, and we're in a cracking position in the league. Some of the bairning on the Matchday Threads when we concede get on my nerves, but it is what it is What I can't abide though is the incompetence from the CEO and the contempt with which fans are treated. From shady shirt sponsorships, to getting into bed with shirt suppliers who aren't worth a wnk, to seemingly not giving a monkeys about the FA Cup and disrespecting the opposition and their fans - the misses quickly add up. But we've got the Big News to look forward to I guess.
Maybe so. So why is the CEO treating supporters so badly now then? Why has he refused to acknowledge the fans who spent their hard earned cash with his club during a cost of living crisis to order Barnsley kits only to be let down after waiting months? Why the complete silence from him? Why has he refused to acknowledge the Horsham balls up? Why has the company under his leadership refused to even speak to the supporters trust about it? Is it the supporters who have short memories? Or is it the CEO of Barnsley FC who has treated fans so badly that frankly they don't care about nice music played before the Bolton game last year, they care about how they are being treated and disrespected now.
I honestly cannot fathom why some on here still think he should still be employed by the club and think anyone that criticises him is called out as being negative
I wouldn't class myself as "negative" but I have very little enthusiasm this year. I missed the opening day 7-0 drubbing as I was on a plane back from Turkey at the time. I honestly don't think I have seen an entertaining game of football at Oakwell this year. I'm finding it boring to watch. We have been effective away from home but there is nothing that has me leaving Oakwell thinking 'Cant wait to see that again'. I have no views on Khalid. The kit has been a sh*tshow and I have already said it was the first I bought for over 20 years and will also be the last. I ordered a full kit for my lad and got the top, socks about 5 weeks later and order for shorts was cancelled. That's p*ss poor - so, so far as that is concerned, that's lost revenue because I just won't do it again. Getting to the ground on match day is still an absolute ballache with Beevor Court closed and parking like wacky races. I already know that when it's chucking it down, blowing a gale and the like I'm very likely to just think sod it. It's not like the product on the pitch is so edge of seat that I'll move heaven and earth to be there. I'd say I'm more apathetic than negative. But to be fair, ever since my East Stand Car Park pass was taken away from me for the fan zone I've felt less and less motivated. Ultimately I watch football for pleasure. I stopped watching the money league because I wasn't paying the stupid prices for it. Maybe I'm just falling out of love with football generally - but when everything feels an uphill battle to get there and when you do it's fairly turgid offerings then you are where you are. I never followed Barnsley for results, what sort of idiot would do that! 97 was an unexpected time that gave me lifelong memories. Nowadays I'd just take getting out of my seat with some excitement. I'm watching games out of habit rather than desire at the moment and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
It does feel like people are quicker than ever before to criticise and moan about the club. Perhaps a symptom of a wider mindset across society - people are feeling angry and disenfranchised at the moment.
I've always been relatively positive, I remember a season in the 2nd division back in the 80s when we were bottom on new years eve having won only 4 league matches. My dad was all doom and gloom whereas I was still optimistic but we won on new years day (at Hull I think) and went on to avoid relegation. I'm very optimistic now, playoffs are a certainty and top 2 is achievable COYR!
My post was to gauge peoples negativity about the team not so much off field activities. Whilst on the subject though I was away when the Horsham date was announced and after a quick scan of the BBS when I got home i was led to believe it was BFC fault for changing the date. After reading a little more into it especially the letter to Mr Billing from the Horsham chairman it seems it was SYP who arranged the date and time, unless I'm missing something.
The thing is though it’s not just Kalid is it? Granted he’s never been the most forthcoming CEO we’ve ever had but the information clampdown is right across the club. Whether you love her or loath her since joining the board JAQ has been right our faces, banging the BFC drum at the front of everything but suddenly over the last few weeks we’ve seen nothing of her. Only last week @Loko the Tyke on behalf of the supporters trust reported that they could get nothing from the club over the Horsham business. Even our own @YTBFC had his freedom to post on this very board restricted. This then leaves us with our personal suspicions a theories and speculations. My own theory is that something is going off in respect of the ground ownership. Is Nareev angling to acquire some or all of the council’s share of Oakwell? It’s the only thing I can come up with that goes someway to explaining the communication clampdown that’s existed for some weeks now.
-Poor style of football, can’t beat teams making up the top half of the table, poor home form. Certain players clearly cashing it in, for example Herbie Kane, making negative comments during the transfer window. Poor signings, particularly Watters & Cosgrove up to press. Certain players not performing at the level we saw them playing at last season, Adam Phillips comes to mind. Then the CEO’s performance over the last couple of seasons, particularly this season & the awful fans meeting where he was arrogant & rude. Now we know he’s off at the end of the season & he’s gone quiet again. The “big” news promised. The upcoming punishment, likely to be a points deduction hanging over our head. The poor atmosphere, poor matchday experience overall. The latest farce over the fa cup game
