Ah the old, we ought to pack in argument.

Blackpool were a championship club last season, and will have probably a healthier budget than ours, before you consider that they managed to get an alleged 2.5m for Jerry Yates with a replacement thrown in as part of the deal. I've no idea what Rhodes is on at Blackpool, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was at least double what Cole is on.

McGoldrick was rumoured to be on about 10k a week at Derby last season and wanted to go back to his boyhood club this summer.

So no, we couldnt compete for those two players in particular.

We're on our second season back down. That 8 million you mention probably just about offsets the losses made last season.

You've said yourself further up that you wouldn't change the recruitment strategy, but signing an ageing, expensive striker with a poor goal record in the last 7 or so years flies right in the face of it. You could argue that we've filled our quota of those players already with Cole up front.

You're right and I'm not arguing with that, but I think the point the OP was making with the 'over 30' post was that those players don't need to be brought up to speed in any way. They're plug in and play, although Hourihane had a lot of experience, he certainly needed a lot of development. He just did it very quickly, and very well.

It would be the flatbreads for me. Not the actual things, but the name, I'd call the naan breads. It would be a winner.
