As someone who has a season ticket in East Upper, and much prefers sitting there to anywhere else in the ground, I was more concerned from a selfish point of view that East Upper should be open. If I were a fan of the Ponty End or West Stand, I might have wanted one of those stands to open. As regards the financial issue, I can't believe it's going to cost the club much more to open East Upper and that will probably be more than covered by the increased number of fans. I do not know what it would cost to open the other stands. If costs are not significant, I don't see why supporters should not have the same choice as for league games.

So you'd sit 3-4k home fans in three different stands? Do you realise how silly that would look? The clubs done right, only the East Stand should be open for home fans, the board goes on about how skint they are no matter who they sell so it would be a silly decision to open the whole ground. They're already losing money on this game.

The club has "done right" in the end, because of protests from supporters, and I applaud the change of mind. Those for whom it is an important issue should now be guaranteed a seat under cover. I accept that it doesn't look good if there is only a mere scattering of supporters around three sides of the ground, but the sparsely populated West Stand almost always looks fairly "silly", as you put it. Don't you think a completely empty Ponty End is also going to look a bit "silly"?

Can they bring down from upper tier the normal cider so we are not drinking the ribena stuff in lower tier??? Or I’ll walk up half time for it. The choice of drinks in lower still from 1993. Plus Spanish Carling

I presume that this is a facetious remark.

They set off this evening. Sensible thing to do, as even the official coaches are setting off at 11 am.

It wasn't protests from the supporters, that was always the plan to open the East fully, they just wanted to fill up most of the lower first, they would have also had plans to open the Ponty had the East been selling really well. We have always closed the Ponty for early cup games recently so no, i dont think it looks silly - it's the norm.
