That's a ridiculous mistake. I could understand that snooker player who put Barnsley in his sat nav and ended up in Barnsley, Gloucestershire but to end up in Bournemouth instead of Brighton is difficult to understand.
I once set off to Southport and ended up in Stockport … needless to say, it’s been mentioned a few times since but at least they sound the same .. sort of
This reminds me of a bloke I used to work with. He drove from Luton to Birmingham........via Doncaster...lol
My sister in law who lived in Stocksbridge used to insist on picking up my Mother in Law, who lived in Jordanthorpe, the day before any hospital appointment. She’d drive her back to Stocksbridge where she would stay the night. This was because my sister in law only knew the route to the hospital from Stocksbridge. Every time this was done, the route took her within a quarter of a mike of the hospital. Bonkers.
Barnsley v QPR away Official coach went to, or got near to Crystal palace afore the Driver took notice of the passengers. Who I believe were questioning him early doors lol.
When I was about 12 I went to Shrewsbury on the Hoyland Star bus. I realised pretty early on that the driver was going the wrong way down the A5. Took me ages to build up the courage to tell him. When i went to the front of the bus I saw he had directions written on a piece of paper. M1 A38 A5 Sadly, the first available A 5 was left, not right. We ended up near Coventry before I went up to tell him. Missed kick off. Lost as well.
The article says the game will be rescheduled. Hmmm! Can we get lost on the way to Derby so we can get it rescheduled for when Roberts and Connell are fit? Surely a quick drive to Darlington would work!!
Mates of my uncle drove down from Whitby to watch them play Forest Green Rovers once. They got there, parked up, found a pub, had a few pints and then asked the landlord for directions to the ground. He didn’t have any idea what they were on about, but another punter realised where they meant and said “go out of the pub, turn left, when you get to the main road turn right and then it’s about 100 miles further, in Gloucestershire”. They had gone to Forest Green near Dorking, in Surrey!
Funny you should say that. Many, many years ago travelling home by coach from a winter evening match at York we found ourselves in Stockton on Tees after the driver joined the A1 in the wrong direction.
I know highly intelligent work colleagues who have driven to Hertford instead of Hereford and Stafford instead of Stratford.
